I have massively curly, frizzy hair that I used GHDs on every day, even then it fuzzes when I go out in damp air. I’m considering buying the Dyson Airstrait and have read reviews online but given the cost I was after some more opinions! Has anyone had GHDs and then got the AirStrait? How do they compare please? Thank you.

I was able to borrow an AS for a month, used it twice weekly in place of dryer & GHD’s. At the end of that month I still wasn’t used to it (although I am very cack handed) and decided not to get one but, on going back to dryer and GHDs immediately noticed what I was now missing. They were really harsh after the AS. So got one on offer at £350 from John Lewis.

The big plus with AS is it needs far lower temperatures than GHD’s, so healthier hair. I use the 110 mid setting, then if the plates get warm I drop it to 80 for a few passes. My hair is coloured, fine, frizzy and damaged. It looks healthier now and new growth stays in far better condition. It’s allowed me to have my hair longer.

The plug (where I presume all the technology lives) is huge; to fit it the bottom of the socket needs to be 14cm from the floor. If the socket is lower you might have to use an extension lead, this could also be an issue when staying in hotels.

It doesn’t stop my hair frizzing in humid conditions, but the GHD’s didn’t either. Leave in conditioner and heat protection is still needed.

You always have to press the two buttons in order after turning the power on (big, orange and big again)…. something to do with voltage or such like, I have no idea.

I have the airstrait and I absolutely love it. I could never blow dry my own hair, it would just look frizzy, untamed etc. It would be patchy dry. I couldn't get it smooth as when a hairdresser would blow dry it.

I have the GHD Duet wet to straight and it was awful, heavy, and took a long time to dry - definitely falsely advertised in my opinion. Hair felt more dry and frizzy, and needed a full go over on the straighteners.

So, I can dry my (3 inches past my shoulders) hair in under 30 minutes with the AirStrait. Fully dry and smooth. If I do it before bed, I leave it, but if I'm doing it and leaving the house, I run the straighteners over it (less than 3 minutes of straightening). I have coloured, frizzy, naturally unruly, curly hair. If you prefer to wear your hair straight, I 100% recommend.

I regret not getting it sooner, but the price tag, along with the disastrous GHD Duet put me off.

I love my AirStrait , I find having my hair blow dried really unrelaxing but the AS don;t put pressure on, My hair is fragile , menopausal .

They're a bit fiddly to get to the back of my hair but I've got used to switching hands .
The plug is huge (don't know why , the Dryer has a normal plug )

I bought mine from QVC .
Love it .
