Jowls- a fact of life or something I can get rid of??

In the past five years or so I feel I have really aged: I’ve put on weight (all on my front), and my face looks really jowly and I always notice my turkey neck, too! I use moisturiser and so on, I move a fair amount (could move a bit more, could include weights, but finding time is difficult) and I eat and drink similarly to five years ago. But pictures from then show the massive changes in my face and body, and it’s depressing.

Do I have to just accept this as part of aging? I’m perimenopausal but otherwise (touch wood) in good health, fit and strong. It’s a trivial problem but I’m finding it upsetting when I catch sight of myself or see a candid photo or have to use Teams video call.

Are jowls just a natural part of ageing? Well, yes, they kind of are! I started to notice some pouching around my jawline in my mid-40s and it's depressing isn't it? Gravity comes for us all in the end and I'm not sure whether a few extra pounds is bad or good. Was it Joan Rivers who said that there comes a time when every woman has to decide whether to let her face or her arse go? I think that's probably right tbh.

As for whether you have to accept it - well that depends how you feel about injectables or something more invasive. If you decide to go that route find a reputable clinic with medically trained staff, not just your local beautician who did a half-hour course in her lunch break.

We all age differently.

I believe the only way to reliably get rid of jowls and skin laxity is a face lift.

I have accepted mine. I am against injectables so no choice.
I have good skin, but bad jowls.

Good skin, bad jowls, no injectables here 🛑 ✋ but still horrified to see the image of myself 😂

will work on acceptance 😬

Some face exercises can help with jowls. Not in any major way, but toning the underlying muscles can help. Use google or youtube for examples. I do some after I put on my moisturizer in the morning, and before any makeup.
