Acne on chin

I’m late thirties and have always ALWAYS had deep nasty spots on my chin. I suspect hormones - my skin everywhere else is pretty clear. It’s sensitive to some products (the only stuff makes my face burn now and acnecide while it did work, brings me instantly out in hot itchy skin which I can’t put any thing on)

Im dairy intolerant and while I’ve cut it out almost 100% I’ve seen no improvement in my skin.

I keep seeing things like dermatica etc on my socials - worth it? Can any one recommend any thing?

I’ve booked an appt with the GP for the new year as it’s really affecting my confidence. Any one got any advice?

People who say skin and me worked wonders- can you say what your active ingredients are? The rest of my face is fine so don’t want to mess too much with it but my chin has always had spots and they take ages to clear up so it always looks a mess.

Those who have found the skincare works, do you also find that diet plays a part? I ask only because I know when I eat sugar I get terrible spots on my chin and jaw, but not when I don’t. However my sweet tooth means cutting out sugar permanently isn’t going to happen! I managed several months once but long since lost all will power, and am wondering if I can combat the results with skincare

I went tee total for a bit last year and tbh my skin was the best it’s ever been. Bad habits have crept in again and the spots are now back!

Skin+Me is amazing I've been using them for nearly 4 years I really rate them. I use it fur fine lines and wrinkles and have Tretinoin in my prescription, I used to get occasional spots but now I don't get any and it's really evened out my skin tone and any redness. Their customer service is really good too. I have a code where you can get your first month free, just pay £3.50p&p

you can cancel or postpone deliveries easily (to start with you may not use it everyday so might want to delay 2nd month) generally they say you don't see improvement until around 3 months but it has a cumulative effect so you need to be consistent to see results.

I did accutane. Clearly not for everyone and risks need considering. However I was so depressed by my skin and not wanting to leave the house. 100% worth it for me but of course needs considering.

Absolutely, I eat very little refined sugar because prediabetic. Indulged in some christmas treats at work today and ive spots on cheeks and forehead for first time in months.

For me it's azelaic acid and niacinamide. I can't use tret with being pregnant, so was doubtful if it would work at first. But it's completely cleared up my skin. 😊

I eat the same as before, so diet hasn't made a difference for me. But my skin still cleared up using the daily doser from skin+me, so it can work depending on you personally. Hope this helps!

I sympathise OP, as I'm 39 and still get a spotty chin! Mine is usually linked to my cycle. I use Skin and Me, but funnily enough it didn't work on my chin! I've kept it going though on the rest of my face, as the rest of my face now looks better because of it (it wasn't spotty like my chin, but it was oily with uneven skin tone).

For my chin, which I now don't treat with skin and me due to trying to avoid product overload, I've started using acnecide gel cream, and a spray of colloidal silver, which is known for its anti bacterial properties.

I also use Revolution Skin 'Blemish' moisturiser, which isn't too heavy, and a an added bonus contains SPF 30.

Well humans I did the skin + me thing the day this was posted and got a new prescription sent out (one containing an antibiotic) and even though my period has arrived - I’ve not got a single spot on my chin. This is the LONGEST I’ve not had an active spot so fingers crossed 🤞

This is what’s in mine. The concentration of the azeliac acid gets stronger over the next 3 months and then the antibiotic is removed

Thats great OP :D

Murmum · 03/01/2025 21:13

Late 30's here too, have had really acne prone skin for the best part of 10 years now (never had any as a teen)
I really find Tropic skincare works for mine using it daily, but when I have a particularly bad breakout Acnecide works well for me.

70% of my acne was cleared up by going gluten free
