I used a well known (but niche brand) hand cream last night.
It wasn’t the first time using it.
It makes my hands feel really soft.
A nice product I thought.
It's expensive but I'll rebuy.
I reapplied when I woke up later in the night - wanting even softer hands !
I had rubbed some of the cream onto my nails and cuticles.
This morning I noticed my nail polish has gone "tacky" !
It's just an ordinary nail polish with a lustre to it, a very pale colour, I applied a single coat of it.
It had been on for a day.
The shine has gone from it and it is definitely "tacky" and needs to be removed.
It must be something in the hand cream.
No other explanation.
But who wants to use hand cream that removes nail polish !!!!
Years ago the BBC "Watchdog" programme featured a very well known body lotion that featured an ingredient used in anti freeze.
A user of said cream had noticed the paint on the panel on the side of her bath was being stripped after she used and spilled some of the body lotion and she asked Watchdog to investigate.
The body lotion was reformulated to my knowledge and is still a big seller today.
Who can I contact in relation to this hand cream. There is definitely something in it that has affected the nail polish.
What authority in the UK can I alert or ask to check it out ?
It's a British brand, made in the UK.
I bought it from a British store trading in Ireland
If I bring it back to the shop I believe they will just chuck it.
I do think its ingredients need to be checked out.
I won't name the brand so please don't ask.
But I really want it investigated because nail varnish removing hand cream can't be good.

Is there sunscreen in it? I believe some types can affect nail polish.

I thought it was a fairly known thing that creams and such can ruin nail polishes etc?

Check your cream for lanolin, I think that is known for weakening nail polish.
Best not to rub any oil, chemicals etc into your nails after applying polishes really. A bit of cuticle oil around the edges at most.

I was worried that if it removes nail polish it can't be good for your skin !!!!
