Luscious lip balm!

Can anyone suggest a really moisturising lip balm? I used to use Palmer's Cocoa Butter but they changed the recipe and it's rubbish now.

I got Vaseline Cocoa Butter instead and now my lips are peeling...

Help!

Another vote for Blistex.
Blistex | Superdrug

That's nice and cheap! Thank you!

I might get a cheapie until my lips clear up and a nice one for when they look presentable...I'm a bit wary of getting another one that I don't use if it's more than a tenner

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream. Or the same thing in a lipstick.

I've recently bought 'O'Keefe's Lip repair' stick balm. What I like about it the most is that it's not sticky even though it leaves a slightly thicker layer behind than your usual supermarket balm. I know that it'll stay on for longer and do its job at protecting my lips. Has an SPF 15. Gentle fragrance. I like it and believe that it works better than anything else I bought before.

The aldi lip oil would sort you out. About £4 clear and moisturising without being sticky

I use pure vitamin E oil overnight and my lips are so healed and moisturised I can get away with any old cheapy balm during the day.

Elizabeth Arden lip balm - like a lipstick. Clear or tinted.

This, it’s amazing

BlackCat25 · 16/12/2024 10:34

I’ve tried dozens over the years (like most of us). The only one that really makes a visible difference and stops all dryness (especially if you apply last thing before sleeping too so it can work overnight) is Lanolips 101 ointment (in a small tube and available from High Street chemists). More expensive than regular balm sticks, but a little goes a long way.

KirstenBlest · 18/12/2024 12:45

@user12696648 , be careful with them as some dry out your lips. Some of the cheap ones especially if tinted are crap.
I find Chap Stick is fine as is Maybelline Baby Lips. The Blistex in a tin or tube IMO is the best, but Carmex is ok. I think it has salicylic acid in it so too much will dry the lips.

I've tried the O'Keefe and liked it, but for some unknown reason didn't buy it again. The Elizabeth Arden one is nice and looks good.

Burts Bees balms are also good as are Palmers Butter ones too.

To whoever recommended the EA Eight Hour lip balm the original balm was formulated to heal horses hooves apparently. I’ve only tried it once and think thought it was very moisturising.

user12696648 · 18/12/2024 18:38

@Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain they changed the Palmers recipe and it's not what it used to be, nowhere near as moisturising and it's got spf now so it leaves a kind of white-ish sheen.

Nuxe reve de miel in the pot. It's the only thing that stops the corners of my mouth splitting open.
Personally. I find blistex, carmex etc made my lips worse. Too many irritating ingredients.

WhatsItWorthToYou · 18/12/2024 20:37

Sisley, the American import chapsticks, the Japanese import Nivea honey, Laniege, Chanel and the now discontinued Jo Malone English mint and ginger are all in a little pot by my bed for me to take pot luck with every night!

Recommend all of them

SweetBobby · 18/12/2024 20:46

Highly recommend that you try a lip oil. I find with balms you're constantly reapplying them, lip oils last for hours.

Another vote for Nuxe here. Expensive but worth it. I have several dotted around so always to hand.
