Skincare routine for late 60s

My aunt has requested “a nice face cream or something” for Christmas, so I thought it might be good to gift her a few products as a routine - maybe a cleanser, serum, and cream? Or a day/night set? Open to suggestions.

She’s mostly been going with store brand options until now but wants to up the game a bit. She knows I’m quite into skincare, which is true, but I’m totally out of my depth with any skin type other than mine (I struggle with hormonal acne and severe dryness so not very confident shopping for her).

Criteria:
-around £80 all in, got some wiggle room,
-something that feels a bit “special” but not so fancy that she wouldn’t go back and buy it for herself,
-no specific skin concerns, sensitivities, or allergies, but probably a bit more dry if anything,
-not too heavy on anti-ageing branding… a lot of the “mature skin” products I’ve looked at so far seem to really target wrinkles etc. but she hasn’t actually asked for this. She just wants something moisturising and nourishing,
-wears moderate make-up daily,
-quite an active/sporty/outdoorsy lifestyle but definitely not the “rugged” type either. So something more elevated than NIVEA blue tin, but not as frivolous as La Prairie (not that it’s in the budget anyway, lol). I liked some of the Caudalie sets and I know this is what my mum uses, but they are so heavy on aforementioned anti-ageing branding.

Open both to gift sets (especially if they come with a wash bag!) and mixing and matching different products, or any other ideas.

Are the Nuxe ranges for this skin type any good?

Thank you!

I'm 66 and always taken care of my skin.
I've tried various products but always go back to Boots No7.
They have cleansers..
Washes.. serums...eye cream.. masks.. you name it they make it.
Some fantastic Christmas starter sets too. This is brilliant.. also easy to purchase her own at reasonable price.. plus Boots beauty consultants will always offer advice.

Unless she's specifically said she wants to establish a more complex routine then I'd try and stick to what she's asked for.

I'm 68 and I quite like Neal's Yard Frankincense Hydrating cream and essential oil - I rarely buy them because I stick to a small number of products, but I'd appreciate them as a gift. But if anyone gave me serums or essences or beauty capsules, I would smile and say 'thank you' but they'd go straight to the charity shop.

Honestly I'd get both the No.7 and Neals Yard kits mentioned above - comes in around budget, and she's got lots to try out. No.7 is an absolute workhorse, really does what it says it will, whilst the Neals Yard is just a little bit fancier.

The No 7 stuff is excellent, I did about a year of trying various stuff on only half my face to see if there was a difference and No7 by far the best.

But its not 'special'. If she's looking for a new routine then one of the gift sets would be great but if she wants a treat I'd try a face oil and a nicely fragranced night cream.

Neals yard frankincense range is beautiful. I’d definitely go for that.

I was given a pot of Charlotte Tilbury's Magic Cream as a 60th birthday present. I'd describe myself as outdoorsy but not rugged, my skincare as fairly basic and my makeup light. It was definitely way more than I'd spend myself on a moisturiser. I received it as a lovely gift but thought it a bit of fancy indulgent nonsense that I wouldn't be keeping up after I'd finished the pot.

How wrong I was. It took about 5 years off instantly and my skin looks better than it has for decades.

How about La Roche Posay?

Just wanted to say thank you everyone! Lots of good suggestions, I’m headed into town right now and will see what “feels” nicest for Xmas…
