Avene Cicalfate repair cream

Hello,

Does anyone have the original Avene Cicalfate repair cream they would be willing to part with? Either new or used? It would be the version without the green + sign next to Cicalfate. Picture of one attached.

Thank you!

Hello, I should add that I suffered with perioral dermatitis a few years back for 2 years and Avene Cicalfate repair cream healed me. Unfortunately, they reformulated it and whilst the new formula doesn't bother my friends, I'm allergic to it. My pd came back over 2 years ago and I've been desperately searching for this cream since. I'm at a really low point right now and feel utterly hopeless. I would be absolutely overjoyed if someone had the old version and I'm happy to pay for it regardless of whether this been used or not. Thank you so much

I have that but am using for my perioral dermatitis and agree is excellent!
I am in NZ (where stock slower to arrive) but will see if I can find it and would be happy to post to a fellow sufferer!
I have also found the cera ve helpful as well and have heard la Roche posay helpful.

Hello, you're honestly so kind. Unfortunately the link you posted is the new formula with the green +sign next to cicalfate, which I'm allergic to. The one that helped me the first time around, was the old formula without the green + sign, which I don't think will be in circulation any more due to the expiry date. So I thought I'd ask if someone had an old one they didn't use and were willing to part with but thank you so much for responding, it truly means a lot ☺️. I really hope your pd goes away, it's so awful.

Is this it? On ebay France. If so you would have to ask seller if they would post to UK.

unsync · 12/12/2024 23:35

I might have some. When did they reformulate it? It's in my first aid kit, so I'll have a look tomorrow for you.

Avene Cicalfate+ Repair Cream [15 ml] | eBay

It says + but that's not on the packaging.

Ooh thank you for this. I did try to contact the seller but for some reason my message didn't go through, I'll try again later. Truth be told, I'm a bit put off by it saying Cicalfate+. One thing I've learnt trying to trace this cream, is that many places are still advertising the old one but when you receive the item, it ends up being the new cream

Omg that would be amazing. I really really do hope you have it!! I'm not entirely sure when they exactly reformulated it. Sometime in the last few years perhaps but I imagine the old stock was still floating around for some time

I love that cream. I've used it for years for various skin issues but don't have any of the old version I'm afraid.

But I can also thoroughly recommend Eucerin 10% Urea repair cream, which is really good - it worked wonders on DD's dermatitis. Worth a try if you can't get the Avene?

unsync · 13/12/2024 12:05

@RagingToast Sorry, I have just checked and both my tubes (including an older one from France) have the green cross. Have you tried the La Roche Posay Cicaplast version? It's the same type of cream, i assume the cica part of the name comes from the French verb Cicatriser - to heal.

Thank you for checking and responding. I haven't tried eucerin but perhaps I can try it. I'm just wary, as my normal skin is fine with most creams but my pd can't seem to handle any creams, so I'm just buying cream after cream and they're just going into a drawer unused. My antibiotics don't seem to be doing much either and I'm on week 8 but perhaps something will work soon

@unsync that's a shame but honestly thank you so much for checking, I truly appreciate it. I'm sorry to bother but would it be possible to please check on your old one from France as to whether it contains Tromethamine and Aquaphilus dolomiae ferment filtrate?

As for la Roche posay cicaplast cream- I tried this 6 years with my first pd and it reacted, so I don't think I want to buy it again to see. But who knows, maybe it will work this time. I'm at my wits end now. Is it silly to quit work over something like this? I just can't face going in

Have you looked at this website?
https://www.pharmacyclub.net/uk/search-products

They seem to have both the plus and non plus version listed separately. Shipping is expensive but maybe worth it?

GooseClues · 13/12/2024 23:06

Even of you find the old cream, the expired ingredients can start causing skin reactions. I think it will be easier for you to find an alternative cream instead. Pretty much all pharmacy skincare brands will have something similar. You could check listed ingredients at a French online pharmacy.

Have you tried a-derma EPITHELIALE, for example?

RagingToast · 14/12/2024 00:07

@Fuzzyandwarm thank you for this. I've contacted them to ask whether it's exactly as pictured. I've reached out to so many pharmacies across Europe but each time, it turned out that the picture on their website was outdated and they only had the new version in stock :(

Hopefully though, this is the real deal!

Honestly, I've gone down an absolute rabbit hole of creams and my skin is just intolerant. I know there has to be something else out there though. Hope can be such a wonderful and terrible thing! I haven't tried this one but it's one I could look into thank you

I had oerioral dermatitis and cured it with Bioderma Cicabio. May be worth a try

I do have this. My mistake was that I tried this and something else together on the same night but woke up with my skin badly weeping, so now I'm a bit afraid to use it. How soon did you begin to notice a difference? Perhaps I should try it properly

@asparagusffern Also, may I ask if my version matches your ingredients? I read a comment from someone saying it's not the same version as in the EU?

@RagingToast unfortunately I don't have the box anymore and the ingredients aren't on the tube.

I'm thinking back to when I first used it, about 5-6 years ago. The cream was a different colour, it was a greyish colour and now it's white. Also I'm pretty sure it was Cicabio Creme and now it's Creme +, and the plain old Creme isn't available anymore.
However it seems to work the same. We call it magic cream, it's incredible for any kind of irritation, burgeoning spot, scar, etc. Put it on at night and whatever it was is gone in the morning. It certainly worked that way with the PD which was awful and creeping all over my face by the day. The cicabio was miraculous for me, it started working from the first application.

I can imagine how you're feeling, PD is irritating and demoralising. Could you get a referral to a dermatologist? Best of luck with it

Sorry I'm in Ireland hence the links. 🔗 f you can't get this in the UK let me know and I'll post it to you
