Wellie help

Hi I'm looking for a new pair of wellies. I currently have a pair of Dunlop cheapy wellies that are light to walk in but they have sprung a leak, plus my feet get freezing.

My requirements are

Must be wide enough for a wide calf,
Light enough to walk in
Keep my feet warm
Less than £40/50 ideally.

I don't really mind what they look like I just really need dry feet as I live in a very wet and boggy area.

Any ideas? Thank you.

As far as I know, farmers tend to wear Dunlops!

As for the foot warmth, I find you need to add a proper padded/orthotic-type insole and thick socks/layers... better to spend there than on an expensive brand, I think.

Grubs boots have a sale on, I got a pair of rainline ones £30. You may be lucky depending on the size you need.

Out of interest, how on earth do any of you walk in wellies? I find my socks slide off as I walk, even if I wear two pairs.

I met up with a friend for a muddy dog walk at the weekend. She had wellies on, I wore walking boots. She literally told me off for not wearing wellies and said I need to 'suck it up' about socks sliding off 😆

Neoprene wellies are great, mountain warehouse, amazon loads of places sell them. I personally can't see much of a difference across price points.
Muck boots/yard boots equestrian sites can be worth looking at also.

Thank you, yes that may be the way to do it.

I do really like the ones I have but they are not big enough for an insole, so maybe I will have to see if they have half a size up.

I never have any issues, but maybe if they are too big or too much material at the ankle they could be really annoying to walk in?

Where I now live there's no option but wellies as it's boggy and swampy Nov-march

Muck Boots. Ok they are not less than your budget (but if you sign up to the website I think you get like 20% off your first order). HOWEVER they last for years so you definitely get your moneys worth. Brilliant for wide calves, really comfy, durable and completely waterproof no matter how bad the weather / terrain.

Thick, walking socks pulled up my calves!

I walk absolutely miles in mine, but I have expensive ones I'm afraid! Le chameau ones are more comfy than my walking boots and absolutely no issues with them.
Regarding the sock issue, I suggest jeggings or close fitting trousers with knee high socks.

Try Fitflop wellies

Have you looked at Seasalt? Storm Chaser wellies are fleece lined and come in four colours. They are mid calf length - not sure if that's a problem. I find them better than knee length (I have meaty calves) and I sometimes wear them with gaiters. I suppose it's going to depend on how boggy the ground is and how far you sink in. They are fifty quid.
