How to style this long dress for a wedding

I have it in black but also attached a picture of it in red so you can see the twist detail! Split up the front.

I'm 5'6", size 12, boobs, blonde mid length hair. Usually a bit alternative looking/gothy. Wedding end of January so cold and wintery.

How would you style it?
Hair up or down?
Jewellery? Necklace? Or no? Earrings?
Make up - eyes or bold lips?
Tights - definitely need as I'll be cold. Nude? Sheer black? Patterned?
Shoes! Colour? Or metallic?.leather... Velvet too? I usually wear trainers or DMs...
I have a coat and small black bag that will go.

I never get dressed up so willing to buy new accessories - definitely need shoes!

It's not terribly, um, celebratory.

I would wear nude tights and knee high boots. Please not DMs 🙂

And hair up.

Isn't it bad form to wear black for a wedding? It's not very happy!

Nude tights so you don't look funereal 😆 Knee-high boots with pointy toes (heel optional) to keep your legs warm. If you're willing to spend on them, black decorated boots would work well - embroidered or with metallic embellishments (even jewelled, but that's a minefield). The whole boot could be metallic, but in a colour rather than silver/gold.

If you'll be okay with less leg coverage, you have a much wider range of footwear options including things like metallic ankle boots, shoes or shoe-boot thingies. Don't go clumpy with this dress for a wedding UNLESS you're the woman who always wears in-your-face giant boots, in which case you should stay true to your style.

Hair up or half up. A single statement necklace might be nice. Stacked bracelets are currently a thing, and would look pretty good over long black sleeves.

Nice dress!

I choose to believe this is an old fashioned view! Grin

Not really, these days. If you were in head-to-toe black, you would seem to be making some kind of statement perhaps - but black also makes a perfect backdrop for more joyful accessories!

OP, I meant to include the option of knee-high suede boots in beige (if you're white) so your whole leg is 'nude'. This will give you a cleaner line and a very free rein with lively jewellery, if you want.

Nice dress!

My usual style is very much giant clumpy boots! But would like to try something different. Will have a look for boots that aren't gothy DMs... Thank you

Every metallic shoe or boots I can find is silver or gold!

Animal print? I wear a lot of leopard print usually...
