Silicone breast implants

If you've had silicone implants, what do you wish you'd know before going for the operation? (Overnight stay)

Not going big, and I don't need a lift so it's just implants of between 250 and 300cc.

Thank you!!

That they can go hard and they can move and if that happens it’s incredibly painful

Is going hard known as capsular contracture?

How fast did that happen for you?

Hello I had them for I would say about 10 years. I had managed to breastfeed a baby during that period as well no problems at all. And then it was almost overnight. It moved changed shape and went rock solid and I cannot even describe the pain. It was like something was trying to burst out of me.
Cost me nearly 8 grand to get them removed. And I’ve been told not to replace them as once it’s happened once the chances are it will happen again.

Thanks, sorry to hear that. I'm anticipating changing every 10 yrs or so but that's annoying if you couldn't replace.

There’s only so many times you can make the incision under your breast before it looks an absolute mess. I’ve only had it done twice and there’s no way I could have it done a third. Just bear in mind it’s not like changing your pants. And as you get older it takes you longer to recover from Surgery. I was 30 when I had them done the first time into my 40s when they had to come out, the experience was very different.

Thanks. I'm mid 40s already so perhaps after 20 years I'll give them up.anyway

I had mine in done in my 20s and then again late 30's they last between 10 and 20 years. Important to research and get a good cosmetic surgeon as there has been some rogues in this field. Mine were fine but dangers are as other have said they can move, they can rupture and leak and go heard. I breast feed with mine & no regrets. Important to have regular check ups though. Best of luck with it sure you'll be fine.

Yes that's correct I think that is the biggest issue or can be. Its where scar tissue forms around the implants.

Angelofmycoins · 02/01/2025 17:26

It looks pretty bad if that happens I just don't see any risk factors and how it can be avoided tbh - seems like 10-15% get it

Yes mainly they're safe if you think how many are done. Known of my friends have had any issues either.

lindyloo57 · 02/01/2025 20:13

I first had them done in my 30s after 10 years one did go hard so I had to have them both replaced, these ones have been 20 years this November so no It doesn't always happen again.

Lori2022 · 01/02/2025 16:21

i wish I’d properly looked into the risks of breast implant illness and rare cancer. Oh and I believed gel implants don’t rupture and leak which just is not true. I was early 20s when had first set and now late 30s working up to getting them removed for good. I’d also do lots of research about which implants are used as both sets I’ve had have been recalled years later.

lots of luck for your op 😊

I'm planning on getting implants next year for the first time. I'm 30. I posted a similar thread asking for anecdotes and experiences but had no replies.

Has anyone here had the teardrop implants? What were they like?

How did it go? How was the recovery? I've heard that bloating/constipation and the chest feeling really tight are the main things...

Did you get this done in the UK?
