A question about steaming clothes

I want to buy a steamer to steam my clothes, to kill moth eggs 🤮
however I’m assuming I cannot steam delicate knitwear items that say hand wash? Or wash at 30 degrees? Surely the hot steam will destroy them or am I missing something?

As long as they're natural fibres it isn't an issue to steam them with a lot of force (which most domestic steamers rarely even get close to), no matter how delicate, they can handle heat fine.

Edit: by force I mean steam pressure. There's no real force involved but it feels forceful in your hand as the steam is ejected out, if that makes sense.

I would not use hot steam on wool, it will shrink, as will cotton. Get a moth spray.

Put them in the freezer for 3 days to kill any eggs

@Lagirl20 if you have months you can easily see, you will no doubt have months elsewhere (carpets, soft furniture etc) so you need treat more than just your jumpers I've had silk scarves eaten and handbag linings! Took forever to get rid

I used to work in a clothes shop, we steamed EVERYTHING before it went on the shop floor, using massive steamers far stronger than you probably have at home

Of course you can - steaming is the only way you can remove creases from e.g. silk. I use Steamery on wool & silk items and it works very well.
