Covering greys

Need some help.please.
I'm 44 and going very grey. Usual places all down centre parting and round the front of my hairline near ears etc.
I'm a natural brunette.
Have spent years doing box dyes but they look rubbish and usually come out too dark and I'm having to do them more and more often and its a job I despise! Having long hair I find it messy and stressful.
I want to start having it done professionally.
But I don't want to be having to cough up well over £100 every 6 weeks. I can afford it but I think its a lot and don't have time to go that often
Is there any magic solution that is around the £100 mark that I could have done maybe 2 to 3 times a year?
Edited to add -
I don't mind not having one flat colour but don't want to go very light as i did it years ago and it just doesn't suit my skin tone, made me look really washed out

I have just started using defy grey shampoo not 100% convinced but might be worth a try, Google it.
