I have thick wavy hair and in 8 months I've grown it from short to about shoulder length, but it's two lengths at the back and sides as it was cut shorter on top and the hairdresser that did it used thinning scissors on it which has made it grow out bushy.

What do I do? Plan a, I was thinking of having some layers put in to even out the two lengths while keeping the overall length, or plan b keep growing it it and put up with the bushy sides a bit longer

If I go for plan a what do I ask the hairdresser for and will they just be happy doing a trim and tidy up rather than a full cut etc
ps I don't want a mullet.

Hi, I had similar problem before, I would go plan A :) keep your length but fix the bushy feeling , pluss regular trims and tidy ups will help it grow

Thanks @Kaylee19882024 I'm just a bit worried that a hairdresser will cut too much off after all my efforts to grow it

Just be sure to tell them that lol there getting paid to do what you want at the end of the day :) make it very clear to them that your worried about it as its took a lot of effort to get to where your at now

You're right. I've had a few bad experiences with hairdressers and get a bit worried. I need to just stop being a wuss

Not at all lol I'm the same really , i have very long hair but very thick hair and everytime I go to get it thinned out they don't do it enough , so I bought my own thinning scissors online (bad idea) & attempted it myself lol well they soon went in the bin after.. I just never know what to do with it, I want to cut it shoulder length but scared too

It's the story of my life. My hair never feels right too short. too bushy, sticks out too wavy, too curly. Yet people tell me I've got lovely hair, so it can't be too bad. It's hairdressers that are my problem and if I get a good one they retire and then I have to start looking for another .

Ohh yes you are lucky if you have wavy curly hair lol I'd love that. Mines just as thick as it is long 😁 .. us women eh!

Are you maybe too fussy?😆Try to find a photo on line to bring to the hairdresser for reference, but realizing not all hair works for all cuts.

I would go with layers for now while you grow it out. Are you eventually planning on one longer length? Maybe go for a longer layered bob?

This is me with longer hair layered I'd like it similar but a bit shorter I think I'll take this photo to show to the hairdresser
