Weight loss off face- baggy face!

Also posted in WLI topic but thought I might get some wisdom here too...

A lucky problem I know, but I'm losing weight quite visibly off my face. However, it feels baggy and jowly! I've done a MN search but no joy really. Any tips please? Creams? Exercises?! Solidarity?!

Thank you!

I've lost 3.5 stone and my face looks like a deflated balloon.😂 I don't care, I'd rather be a bit jowly than fat and I'm getting used to my new face slowly.

I have lost three stones this year. My face looks very different. A friend who I hadn't seen for many months actually burst in to tears when she saw me. So, I am really self conscious. I am not going to have fillers or anything though. Just need to accept this is the consequence of finally getting losing weight and getting healthy. The loose skin all over my body is awful too. I just have to live with it.

I have no suggestions. Sorry.

How ridiculous and dramatic🙄 Your friend should be delighted for you unless of course you've lost it through illness.

Congrats on your weight loss!

Try microneedling (at a clinic, not home), or Morepheus8, or ultherapy/softwave (though quite expensive)

In future, try to lose weight slowly, eat a lot of protein, and do exercises that make you sweat.

holdingontoyouth · 26/11/2024 12:52

Research the treatments suggested very carefully. Most of them remove fat from the face.

I'm in a similar boat after weight loss, especially under my chin, now that I'm down to just the one chin! 😄
I have spent ages looking at ways to improve the sag and loose skin and it seems that only a proper face/neck lift really helps. All other things like needling etc seem to be a waste of money in the long run. I'm saving for a mini face and neck lift.

tears of joy?😂

Im abit more jowly but honestly that could be age as well! I did develop a definate turkey neck though but that seems to have evened out abit as time goes by.
I also have epic bingo wings...I could take off, flying squirrel style! Not keen on that but I refuse to let it bother me as I also now have cheekbones and killer shoulders as well.

If I had to choose between the weight or the loose skin then I pick the loose skin!

I'm trying lots of things.
Collagen powder and lots of protein.
A skincare routine with vit c and tret. I find if I'm dehydrated my skin doesn't look great.
Injected skin boosters - hyaluronic acid - these are NOT fillers!
PRP
There's some research to support PRP and hyaluronic acid boosters.
I'd been quite smug about my line free face. I now realise that natural padding was hiding my wrinkles!

@willowstar 😱😱😱😱 about your friend

watching with interest as I'm losing weight and worried my face will fall like a soufflé

I probably won't lose as much as 3 stone but I'd be glad if I did

can't imagine having a facelift though. What about those electrical pulse things?

@henlake7 i lifted weights consistently even when fat so I'm all right there. They don't need to be heavy weights if you're not up for that.

Based on the weightloss success threads on MyFitnessPal I would say time, hydration and moisturiser are key. It doesn't seem to need to be an expensive moisturiser, just anything that keeps your skin from drying out.

If you look at pictures of people who have lost lots of weight it can take up to a year for skin to shrink back a bit, it doesn't always go nicely toned but generally there does seem to be an improvement over time.

Thank you everyone!

Products with hyaluronic acid are great for plumping up skin (it's a naturally occurring component of your skin.
Doesn't need to be expensive I use 99p sheet masks from Tesco. Always get compliments on my skin after using one.
How old are you OP? Your skin will naturally recover to some extent although it takes longer as you get older.

Patch1234 · 26/11/2024 23:22

I'm 44 🙈
