Clothes storage - where do you keep your stuff?

Hi All

I’ve recently moved from abroad so starting afresh with clothes storage whilst we use a random gifted 4 door wardrobe (shared with DH) I don’t even feel like I have that much stuff, but still have things in suitcases and stored under bed. So for my planning, wondering how much clothes storage people have (including for shoes, scarfs etc) and any great tips. I guess rough idea of how much clothing too would be a bonus :)

Currently browsing lovely 2 door ones but don’t think they’ll do the job!

It depends how big your house is, surely? Ideally one double wardrobe plus one large chest of drawers per adult, but if you dont have the space for that then whatever will fit.

Our room is reasonably large so can take a big wardrobe and chest of drawers. But we don’t have much cash to buy all at once so want to get it right and not have to get more stuff afterwards. Trying to plan ahead for the whole house getting overwhelmed. Which I accept is ridiculous!

Any ideas on the most efficient wardrobe set ups would be good. I realise this makes me sound like a teenager who’s never done anything, but our house abroad was all inbuilt and so much storage I’ve not had to think about it for years!

try something like an IKEA pax system. You can customise the insides with different combinations of shelves, drawers, rails etc for both you and DH.

Interesting question.
If I was starting from scratch, I'd have more hanging space so that everything except underwear and joggers could be hung up. In fact even bras would be easier to store hanging up, so I'd have to incorporate that into the system.
I've recently put extra hooks on the inside of wardrobe doors ( already had some for belts) to hang slips from, so I can easily find the right length one to go with specific dresses.
I find hanging clothes works for me like a visible filing system.
It's not for everyone- I know people who prefer to have everything in drawers.
