I’m planning to wear this skirt and top to a bottomless brunch but I need accessories and footwear to go with it.

I like the boots she has but wondered if something else would suit. I also need jewellery that would make it feel a bit more dressed up, without being too blingy and garish.

Mu usual style is ultra casual so this is really out of the norm for me so I won’t be looking to go with anything over the top. As cheap as possible is preferable!

Would love your suggestions please!

Don’t over think it.

go with either brown or black boots and then the same coloured bag to match.

keep your jewellery simple and what you’d usually wear. A chain necklace, earrings and a bracelet etc.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/11/2024 16:39

Love the skirt. I don’t like her belt though.

Personally I’d go for black suede heeled boots, a black top and silver jewellery because I think olive and brown can be a bit ‘country walk’ if that makes sense! I like black though and lots of people don’t, so definitely feel free to ignore me.

I think if you’re wedded to that green top, it needs a necklace.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/11/2024 16:40

Where do you usually shop and what kind of jewellery do you favour?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/11/2024 16:45

This looks quite delicate and pretty - I’m not much use because I just wear the same silver pendant with everything! www.marksandspencer.com/autograph-gold-tone-multirow-necklace/p/clp22584823#intid=pid_pg2pip48g2r11c2

Tanaqui · 20/11/2024 18:01

I wore a similar skirt the other day (but with a knit top so not tucked in), and I had a silver necklace, collarbone length and a silver bangle, if that helps?!

Tanaqui · 20/11/2024 18:02

But gold might look better with that olive green

Neeenaaw · 20/11/2024 19:13

Thank you for the advice so far. @RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie I tend to shop in Next and M&S - limited options in my local town and online is a minefield to me.

jewellery wise, I always wear the same very low key white gold with small diamond pendant. Rarely anything on my wrists and just wedding rings. But open to adding more to lift the outfit a bit.

if it makes any difference, I’m early 40’s and similar build to the model in the image, a bit shorter maybe.

I am actually not sold on the top. It looks better in her post that it does in person. It looks darker and maybe too casual so was hoping a necklace would help.

I'd also ditch the belt and add a fine gold necklace. Gorgeous outfit!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/11/2024 21:25

Yes, it definitely needs a necklace of some sort.

Doggymummar · 20/11/2024 21:28

I love her and wore the same basic outfit to Sainsbury's today. Over the skirt I had a rose gold cable knit jumper from Zara, last year. A full Spanx body suit beneath and Dune chunky loafers in black patent. With fishnets ankle socks

LunaNorth · 20/11/2024 21:46

Blooming heck, that’s very dressed up for Sainsbury’s! Is there a hot guy on the deli counter, by any chance?

Neeenaaw · 21/11/2024 07:34

@LunaNorth thank you 🙏🏻 my self confidence is already in the gutter so I was pleased when I found something like this that I actually felt comfortable in. To then be told a satin skirt is basically akin to my leggings and only good enough for rummaging around the broccoli in Tesco. 😳
Appreciate the stylish suggestions, though I think we’re in different places aesthetically

I doubt the pp meant it like that. I think a satin skirt is what most of us would wear for going ‘out out’ though, so you crack on.

I have a few in my wardrobe for poshed up purposes.

Doggymummar · 21/11/2024 09:31

I certainly didn't mean it was only suitable for Sainsbury's I meant it can also be dressed down and described how I did that.

MadamMuck · 21/11/2024 09:46

Really nice outfit! Wouldn't change a thing. Some accessories to give it just a bit more polish: a statement ring, doesn't have to be garish, a pair of large gold hoop earrings but just very slim ones so they are big but not in your face, a white/pearl coloured nail polish, just one layer of DIY would do, a slightly brighter colour than normal on your lip.

I reckon gold for the jewellery which is more glam and will go better with the green. And just one or two things will look more sophisticated than all. I'd go lip colour and statement ring or earrings and nail polish.

Oh, and chuck in an extra smile or two! Enjoy x

Wordau · 21/11/2024 10:06

I'm thinking something like a thick snake chain plus another pendant necklace like the image here

@Doggymummar I get it 🙂 that was the first thing I read this morning and was a little more taken back by it than I should should have been.

Some really fantastic help on this thread, thank you so much ladies!

I think satin skirts are so great because they can be dressed up or down. I’ve worn mine with heeled boots and a lacy blouse to the theatre, but also with trainers and a T-shirt for stomping around London. I even sometimes wear it to work with DMs and a roll neck jumper.
