Grey hair don’t care

Hi

I have been growing out my greys for a while now and the transition is almost finished but my hair is naturally curly and now with a horrible cut thanks to my faithful hairdresser that always cuts my hair (she didn’t follow my instructions and now I have to go somewgere else to fix it)

Anyway, with short curly hair, my greys look so untidy and crazy but it is very hard on the hair to keep straightening it and when I do at home never looks professional (and when I did last time it didn’t look that good, I think my hairdresser was problably having a bad day)

Anyway, now I’m thinking about dying again but I’m so scared of regretting it. Has anyone gone back to dying? Thoughts?

Also please see pics (not me) which hair cut you prefer regardless of hair colour? A or B?

I like A. B is a bit mullet-y?
I love both grey hair and curly hair. It will look great.

Compash · 20/11/2024 15:56

I agree, b looks more flattering and fun, adds more 'lift'.

Sorry you got a dodgy haircut - it's always horrid - but you're going to get lots of curly hair envy! 😄

A
I'm 50:50 grey mix. Also curly. The thought of going back to growing it out is horrific yo me. More horrific than growing out a bad haircut, by far! Keep the faith!

I love B. And I agree to keep the faith re growing out the grey. I’m 30 percent in the front and still v dark everywhere else.

I really regret that I caved in and recoloured my hair during the first lock down and ended up starting again. I absolutely love my hair colour now and am so sorry I ever wasted time colouring it.

It does take a bit of adjustment in terms of styling and products though. I imagined that my dry hair would transform into something naturally silky and lovely after I stopped putting it through the regular dyeing. In fact it needs more conditioner, more defrizzing and more general beating into submission than ever.

I think very curly hair with greys looks fabulous. Trying some different products might help you love your own more and less likely to straighten it.

Someone once said to me after a fringe disaster - 'you know the difference between a bad and a good haircut? About two weeks'. Keep the faith.

A

I like both of them to be honest. I think B looks a bit more "fun" and A looks a bit more "serious". So depends what look you are after. I think I slightly prefer B.

Valkyrie3 · 20/11/2024 23:11

I think A is miles better.
I have very few grey hairs but I kind of like them. I think not dyeing my hair makes me look unusual. My hair is dark and wavy and I think the odd grey looks distinguished and different. If men can be described as distinguished, why can't we?
So many of my friends dye their hair and are always worrying about their roots, or the colour looks wrong.
I would say embrace it, be a person who's not ashamed of ageing, and be liberated from constant cover-ups and expensive trips to the hairdresser.

SabreIsMyFave · 20/11/2024 23:12

Definitely B.
