How to look good in photos!

Whenever I see myself in a photo, I look really crap, even if in real life, I'm having a 'actually, I look quite nice today' day!! Is there a knack to this or are some people simple not photogenic at all. Is there a 'look', a way to stand, a pose which could improve things? I'm not expecting to look like a supermodel, just want a nice family photo I would be proud to display TIA

Now thats an option littlelapin . Am going to spend a week with my family today and anticipate lots of family photos, including beautiful new niece. Want to eradicate 42 year old wrinkled look and bags under eyes

Stand sideways and never let the camera be lower than your chin!! Smile

now that's the kind of simple tip I need, Sniffy

bronzer.
i just went to get a passport photo done. best photo EVER. all down to the bronzer. oh and dark mascara if, like mine, your eyes tend to disappear into the dark circles...

I think you are either photogenic or you are not - I am not! Dh says I do really look much better in RL and he is the same - he looks terrible in photos and if I was meeting someone for the first time I'd never show them a photo of dh because he looks so awful in pics!

put your face slightly forward which gives you cheekbones to die for.

Beware you do not accidentally "walk like an Egyptian"

brimfull · 28/04/2008 08:23

put small child in front of you
turn you body to one side and look over you shoulder at the camera

oxocube · 28/04/2008 08:30

Hmm, will be trying all of these. Have just looked at Sniffy's link which recommends practising flattering facial expressions in the mirror - ds walked in whilst i was gurning at myself

Goggledigook - I also think I look much nicer in real life than in photos

I do sometimes get DH to take a picture of me on the digital camera (which I then delete) before we go out. I often then change something I'm wearing or my make-up.

Am I a bit weird???
