Disastrous threading experience

I had my eyebrows threaded for the first time yesterday, and today my forehead is bright red and covered in spots. When will I look normal again?

What is eyebrow threading ?[clueless and definitely unstylish emoticon] sounds painful hobnob.Hope things go back to normal soon.

It's when they remove the hairs by twisting two threads together, which they vibrate in some strange way. I think it originates in India. I wasn't epecting him to go above my eyebrows. Is this a very bad thing for their future?

Thanks for your wishes, wrinklytum.

Did they put any cream on afterwards - I only ask because my mum has hers waxed (different procedure I know) BUT she is fine with the waxing, it was the soothing cream that caused the problem.

Some places insist on a patch test for sensitive areas/treatments.

Hope your forehead is better soon.

i have my eyebrows threaded all the time and have never had a reaction

did they use anything on your skin?

hobnob · 26/04/2008 16:11

He put some powder on beforehand, and yes, some lotion or other afterwards. Perhaps my skin is ultra-sensitive. I had my lip waxed several years ago and I looked like a duck for a week.

Perhaps get them to do a "patch test" prior to the next treatment (if you risk it again) and avoid the lotion, or alternatively test the lotion on a less conspicuous place...

Hope you have a fringe?

Sorry to hear about you experience, I had a similar thing happen to me when I had my eyebrows waxed and reacted to the "soothing" cream they put on after treatment...not a pretty sight!

I was thinking of trying threading, as it is meant to be more gentle than waxing and I have unruly dark eyebrows that need taming.

I am 3 months pregnant and my skin is rather sensitive at the moment....

Thanks for your replies. Good luck if you try it, Minnie. I think I won't do it again, but lots of Mnetters swear by it so clearly for some people it's the biz!
