Workwear for in between times

What do you wear for work at this time of year ? Up till now I've been largely in trousers with a v-neck sweater/cardigan over shirt or top. Often I'll go to work in the morning in mist or overcast weatheronly to find it sunny when I come out later on and feel rather overdressed. So I need an in-between look ! What can I wear until it is warm and summery enough to wear light skirts and tops and go barelegged ?

no idea, have same dilemma. Can we add footwear to the list too please? I live in boots and am panicking about suitable office footwear for the summer.

MrsBadger · 26/04/2008 18:12

light trous
ballet pumps
shirt no jumper
blazer/mac

LIZS · 26/04/2008 18:13

light trousers, in terms of fabric or colour ? Any examples please

I meat light weight but light colour could be good too
I work in a v casual office so wear combats, but a chino-type cotton trous would work - I just meant not wool/flannel/ corduroy etc

Lucycat · 26/04/2008 18:40

I have these trousers which I wear witha top something like this one and a daphne-scooby type scarf and ballet pumps.

But I teach so maybe it's too casual for your work?

MrsBadger · 26/04/2008 18:57

one idea
r hand side
linen blend trous

LIZS · 27/04/2008 10:22

ooh thanks for those - - have to confess never found anything in New Look but perhaps I need to try harder. I'm after a fairly informal look so those ideas all look good. what about footwear ?

ballet pumps
tis the only time everyone can wear them - with skirts they are for the slender of ankle only. Clarks had some rather natty bronze ones in their sale.

basically a nyhting with a clsoed toe that doesn;t require socks

Lucycat · 27/04/2008 13:08

Yep agree ballet pumps -I can stand up all day in mine and they are soooo comfy - you can always wear

LIZS · 27/04/2008 13:15

Thanks, was confused by the plethora of neutral linen/linen mix trousers in m and s earlier. Will have to look again later in the week and at New Look , without ds in tow ! I've got ballet pumps but not so comfy and tips on cheap but comfies please .

Matalan? usually a good bet for cheap shoes. they may not be leather but I find leather too stiff and they rub my feet - well at least the leather ones I can afford do.

RipMacWinkle · 27/04/2008 18:38

when you say ballet pumps, do you mean flat shoes?

I've been following this thread avidly...

Crunchie · 27/04/2008 18:52

I have just bough a few new things!! I have to wear suits though

I bought srat top which is really nice, and NOT as mumsey as it looks (it has the 'chanel style' star print on teh sleeves)

I also bought these but not for work. And these for work.

BUT I am a little odd as I do wear 4" stiletto shoes for work, they are the only bit of individuallity I have left Usually I wear leaopard print or tartan ones from office

Lucycat · 27/04/2008 19:02

RipMacWinle - yes! this sort of thing

I cannot stand up and teach all day in heels - so this type of thing is perfect.

slippergirl · 27/04/2008 19:19

I have these, they're fab!

Lucycat · 27/04/2008 20:00

ooh they are lovely - unfortunatley I cannot justify £75 for a pair of trousers that I will snag on a wooden desk or get whiteboard marker on - and that's not mentioning the chewing gum..

hence the cheaper option.....

RipMacWinkle · 27/04/2008 20:46

Thanks Lucy - I feared as much

I'm only 5 feet so ballet pumps make me look too short!

Lucycat · 27/04/2008 21:24

ahh now i'm 5ft 9 so they tend not to!
