Routine for extremely oily skin

Can anyone recommend some products and a simple skin care routine for my extremely oily skin?

Every pore on my face is clogged. I could squeeze and squeeze and the next day they would be clogged again. I just seem to have a problem with excess oil production. I also have to wash my hair everyday or it gets greasy.

Right now I don't use anything on my face. I wash it twice a day and that's it. I hate using moisturiser as it just makes it feel even more greasy.

The only times I didn't have greasy skin/hair was when I was pregnant.

If anyone could recommend a simple routine I'd appreciate it. Nothing too elaborate as I know I won't stick to it.

Mines similar. I use a wash off cleansing oil. (Sounds strange but helps regulate your skins oil production). Then a toner to attack the spots (vitamin c or salicylic acid). I add a gel moisturiser then but that's up to you

You can use cetaphil cleanser. Yes so I have been using one for my skin benefits as well so here goes the routine with the same:
Morning:
Using water to wash your face,
Cetaphil oily skin cleanser
Sebamed clear face gel,
Garnier spf
Evening:
Cetaphil oily skin cleanser
Cerave moisturizer,
Tretinoin (0.1) from skinorac
Sebamed clear facial gel

Niacinamide is really good for making skin less oily. Try adding that to your skin in the morning after you have washed you face and see if it makes a difference.

Your skin is oily probably because its actually dry/dehydrated

Get the fluid into you

Then use a very mild cleanser to clean, dont use soap. I like a wash off cleanser, used to use Liz Earle but now just a cheapo copy from Superdrug. The more astringent the product , the more oil your skin will produce to counter act it

Then a light moisturiser, again I used to use liz Earles , but now my skin is more balanced I can use nearly anything - even Nivea which I could never use when younger

Serums are great for oily/combo skin. My preference is for one containing hyaluronic acid, seems to suit me

I also protect my face from harsh extremes of temps. On the early morning car journey to work I dont put the heater on, I use the heated seats for warmth. , that heat blowing at my face, drying my skin even more, oil slick appeared

Skin and me - tretoin and niacinamide

In one tube and the dose increases as you get used to it. Makes most people peel a bit at first but not my oily mug!

I oil cleanse or use a cream cleanser then use skin and me at night. I use a serum in the day and an oil free spf. I am still oily but have much clearer skin. I am experimenting with more moisture at the moment but it’s not making much difference - I am just very oily.

I was the exact same and started using the ordinary retinol + squalene(?) after reading reviews.
I was nervous to try it as it’s oil which being super oily is something I’ve always avoided but it’s been a game changer for my skin!
Only £8 and I then use simple moisturisers as normal.

If the issue went away during pregnancy then it sounds like the cause is hormonal. Low oestrogen causes oily skin, oestrogen is high during pregnancy. No skin care routine will help if that is the case, you will always be oily. You can speak to your gp and if it was something you wanted the combined pill would likely help you.

On the bright side I look ok for my age and actually get skin compliments sometimes - never could this have been a thing. Oil is good for keeping wrinkles at bay apparently.

Retinol has made me less oily. Apparently it kills the oil producing cells or something, and this is why it can make some people's skin really dry (not mine). I think tretinoin is similar but haven't tried it yet. It used to be that I had blot-worthy skin every half an hour, but that's down to once or twice a day now.

I was on the pill for years before getting pregnant. I still had oily skin while on it unfortunately.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. I will look into retinol.

My derm is concerned that all of us preserve our skin barriers. She loves Cetaphil because her motto is First Do No Harm. I have transitioned to their products for sensitive/dry skin now but it was Cetaphil cleanser for oily skin, Cetaphil moisturiser with SPF 50 (which also has the highest UVA protection rating) and their night time lotion that finally calmed me down. Chucking the harsh cleansers and toners.

I think Cerave works similarly but it stings me now that I use a retinoid.

Like @UmberMoose I also found Sebamed excellent when I had oily skin. As a top layer, it works as a gentle blotting lotion. Antibacterial, good pH. Budget friendly. Widely available in the EU, I don’t know why it is hard to find here.

Kanzen skincare for congested skin.
Watch the YouTube.

My daughter uses this. Amazing skin.

Dr Hauschka purifying clensing cream plus their clarifying day oil, and BHA (Paula's Choice or Roche Posay).

Salicylic acid will unclog your pores.

Persol Forte cream will also help tremendously.
