Advice needed getting ears pierced as an adult

I had my ears pierced when I was 8. Got a bad infection on one side (I think the surgical spirit really made it worse).
Over the years I have let them close up. Keen to get them done again. The holes from last time may still be visible.
How can I prevent the holes getting infected? Hoping that now my skin is mature it won't happen.

Go to a piercer that uses a needle. Not Claire’s!
They should be able to advise, and pierce in the appropriate place given there may be scar tissue etc.

Go to a piercing studio and get them to try and reopen them using a taper I did this this year.

Mine had closed up and the piercer was able to reopen them using a taper and then I hade a flat back earring put in - it has a screw on flat back. She said to keep it in for 8 weeks so it fully healed. The stem is a bit thicker but you can switch it out after 8 weeks for thinner stem butterfly backs.

It was brilliant and cost £2.50 instead of £35

daft question but did it hurt much? Was thinking of popping to a piercers but want to be prepared?

No totally painless. Pressure but no pain. Slightly sore afterward for 1 day then I forgot about them!

And also the flatbacks make them 1000% more comfortable
