Where can I buy the thing I have seen?

I've been on MN for an age and for anybody who vaguely remembers when all round here was nowt but fields, you'll also recall that I have neither style nor beauty.

I limit my questions to idle wonderings about where other people shop. I shop in charity shops and have no idea what I'm doing.

Yesterday - in York if it matters - I followed a woman (coincidentally, I'm not a stalker) who looked like she'd stepped out of a Gudrun Sjoden catalogue. Underneath her layered skirt/dress, she was wearing leggings but they weren't fitted. They were slightly loose, looked linen-like and had tiny buttons at the ankle, possibly wooden buttons. They were FAB and I've been trying to Google to find something similar. I've found lots of leggings with ankle buttons but they're not right. These were very folksy, festival type wear, looked like a natural looser fabric rather thank clingy lycra. I should have asked her really.

Any ideas?

None of the suggestions are right sadly.

They were very pretty/colourful in a teal shade.

I think I'll just stick with my leg warmers for now as they're a similar vibe.

I'm still sticking with Toast and their take on churidar trousers cos they sound very like some I once had myself (found in Oxfam many years ago). Mine were a dark purplish blue, cotton but woven - not stretchy like leggings - slim fitting but quite loose on the leg before kind of rumpling at the ankles. And yes buttons.

Pic here from Brand Alley (although even if these are right, they're sold out I'm afraid)

If it makes you feel any better I found them fiendishly difficult to wear. If you managed to hit that sweet spot, they looked really cool but just one rumple too many and you were in Nora Batty territory. In the end I decided they were too much like hard work and re-donated them - otherwise I'd have happily given them to you.

Next time take a sneaky picture and use AI on your phone to search...

There are some of the Toast ones on depop. They're definitely similar/the closest so I'll keep an eye out for them!

Thank you.
