Things have been going badly wrong, everytime I attempt to get a fabulous frock it has failed dismally. Time is running out and I think I may cry now.

I need a dress. A bit of a wow dress. For summer wedding - not traditional white. Budget up to four hundred pounds.

Size 10, slim and short. I think I'd prefer shorter, calf/knee length.

Any ideas?

I like that second one in lizandlulu but I was trying to avoid white really. I know a bit strange given that its a wedding.

Its a bit of a pain tbh - I had to go through a bridal shop - lots of them stock Jim Hjelm and will be willing to order in specific ones for you to try on if they haven't got a sample of the ones you like. Prices - I looked at about 5 or 6 different ones and none were more than £300

TillyScoutsmum · 25/04/2008 16:35

i really liked this as well

Booja · 25/04/2008 16:35

Thanks TSM.
I think I may need to face the possibly looks and go into bridal shops to ask for bridesmaid dresses for my own wedding!

Yes I also liked that monsoon one, I just was a bit scared of such a bold colour.

youknownothingofthecrunch · 25/04/2008 16:37

too long and over budget

Booja · 25/04/2008 16:38

very lovely though!

why are all dresses either mini or really long?!

slug · 25/04/2008 16:44

this? or this? maybe something like this?

youknownothingofthecrunch · 25/04/2008 16:44

too white?

Booja · 25/04/2008 16:46

Mmm not sure about that yknotc I think it might seem a bit shapeless on me.

Thank you for this though, I really appreciate it. I'm going to have to go and sort tea now so thank you all very much I think I've got a couple written down to try on and I'll brave bridal shops as well.

I suspect I'm just overthinking it all now, there's such a pressure to get the dress exactly right that it has begun to cloud everything else!

ScaryHairy · 25/04/2008 16:53

I know you said nothing long, but this one is a brilliant colour IMO.
