Shower leaving hair greasy?

I recently moved to a new house which has a lovely waterfall shower. However since moving my hair has not been great. When I wash it I feel like the shampoo never fully washes out. It feels oily when I dry it. I have had to stop using conditioner as this leaves it even worse. My hair has always been a little oily but nothing like this. I was away for the weekend and used a different shower. My hair felt lovely and clean and fresh. Has anybody experienced this? I am not sure if it's the water or the shower head. I read that hard water can make hair dry so it doesn't seem like that's the cause. Thanks.

Is water going through a filter which needs cleaning? Or the shower head needs removing & cleaning?

Have you moved to a different area? Was your weekend away far away? Did you use different shampoo/conditioner when away?

Hand soft water can deliver very different results.

My guess is it's a hard water area.

My hair is terrible in hard water proper lank. I don’t think lathers up as well

I moved five minutes away from old house. At the weekend I was 2 hours away in a rural area so I expect water would be different.
If I use a clarifying shampoo at home it's fine but this is not good for my colour.

I had this when I moved to a new build, only 5 mins down the road. So I'm not sure if it was a change of shower or change of water or just coincidence and something changed in my hair around that time. Anyways I had to switch to shampoo that looks like gel rather than creme and problem solved! Can't recommend highly enough. I use treseme deep cleanse. I see that you mentioned this might affect your hair colouring though!

I just think you don't get the same rinse from a fixed waterfall shower that you do from a normal shower. That's why many of them have an attachment for directing a jet of water.

I feel like that at the local swimming pool showers. It's like the water is so aerated there's not much water coming out and I have to wash my hair for ages.

If you wanted to find out if it's the water or not, AS A ONE OFF wash your hair in the bath or sink and see if it's any better. You could even collect the shower water in a bucket and pour it over your head with a cup to see if that makes any difference. ie find out if it's the water in the house or from the shower that's the problem.

Agree with this. I like a waterfall shower just for standing under but they're useless for washing hair imo. You need something with a bit of welly and water pressure, not a relaxing heavy sprinkle from over a foot away.

I was away last week and the shower had a double shower head The rainfall I HATED, switched it over to the normal head which gave much more pressure

Thanks to all who replied, some good suggestions for me to try put.

I expect it's the rainfall shower,my heart sinks whenever we stay anywhere with them,I find them useless for hair washing.

Ginkypig · 30/10/2024 01:38

Ye I was going to say it’s probably aeration or pressure.

i get exactly this with some shower heads. i can rinse and rinse and rinse and I think iv eventually got it but then As my hair starts to dry it looks oily especially directly on the back of my head.

rainfalls are nice to stand under but I always use the little extra head to wash my hair if the shower has one.

User12356 · 30/10/2024 08:04

The shower does have another head so I will try this for hair washing
