Help needed re clingy/static dress.

On behalf of my mum, does anyone have any advice please. She is going to a wedding in the States in July - will be very hot.

She has bought a dry clean only pure silk dress from Ghost (sorry no link for us to have a nose at it). Anyway, she says it is really static and clinging to her legs. She is reluctant to wear a slip (she is of the generation where "underskirts" were very popular), but as she rightly says it will spoil the "hang" of the dress. Also if it is a man made fibre (the slip) it will make the problem worse.

She says she was wearing polyester trousers prior to trying it on, could this have caused the problem? She was under the impression that natural fibres (i.e. the dress) do not generally cause static.

Thanks

I hvae a few dresses that do this and a slip IS the answer. I don't see how it can spoil the line of the dress. Has she SEEN a slip in the last 50 years? She just needs to go a buy a nice fine slip from M&S or somewhere that is just the right length.

Thanks for your very swift replies. A silk slip may be the way forward. She is worried about getting too hot if she adds another layer. (will be the height of summer over there)

I presume no tights Cod.

It is a dry clean dress but she said she probably would try washing it (if it was my dress I probably would avoid washing it until after the wedding)

You type quicker than me. I'm thinking that an anti-static spray might be the best option here. Certainly worth a try. Thanks

Cod she needed sorting. Initially she wanted something "nice and cool in cotton" - for the wedding of a close family member (her niece/my cousin). I was v relieved to hear about the Ghost dress. You would have been very at some of the other contenders. You really would have been round to sort her out.
