I'm coming upto 50 and my skin is really showing irs age!
I've started a good skincare regime after years of neglect, when looking after a I'll relative.
I just can't seem to find a good primer and foundation that doesn't seem to accentuate all my pores, which are so visible now 🥲
What is everyone's go to, it ideally needs to be something from Boots as that's the best shop in town!

I’m late 40s and like Rimmel Multitasker. It’s primer and foundation together and it’s got a bit of a sheen to it, so it’s dewy rather than matte.
I find matte foundations make my skin look dreadful and tired. You could always put a bit of powder on top if it’s too glowy for you but I like it on me.

dudsville · 23/10/2024 18:55

I love estee lauder futurist hydra foundation. Has an spf of 40 too, which is a bonus. The coverage is good but it feels so light that I can happily wear it for his without the urge to remove it. I got mine initially from a boots counter, but now I stalk the net for sales.

Aginplease · 23/10/2024 19:05

@PiggieWig thanks, I've saved it in my favourites on the boots app and I'll go and have a look at it, do you use any primer under it?

@dudsville thanks, is it the skin tint serum?

No it's just the foundation, but it's thin.

Fourfurrymonsters · 23/10/2024 20:14

If you’re after a nice dewy look (as matte on maturer skin is very ageing) I’m a huge fan of Ilia’s Super Serum Skin foundation. A nice light coverage and a bit of skincare rolled into one. I’ve bought other products from them and they’re all fabulous.

GreenSmithing · 23/10/2024 20:19

I use Boots intelligent colour. It goes on very sheer, which I find better these days than anything heavier. Basically gives a slightly airbrushed look.

JustGettingStarted · 23/10/2024 21:23

I am 54 and I have tried several over the past couple of years. I googled "best foundation for mature skin." I was told that Charlotte Tilbury was good and it's crap. I tried a Bobbi Brown that's just blah. I tried Armani Luminous Silk, which is supposed to be fantastic for mature skin and it's just OK. Not bad but nothing special.

Then I tried L'Oreal True Match Nude Plumping Serum and it's fantastic.

I have also found that a luminous primer (no 7 makes a good one) under a small amount of foundation makes me look fresh and
Healthy.

Less is more on mature skin.

suki1964 · 23/10/2024 21:53

I started using Laura Geller after outgrowing ester Lauder. I did try a good few foundations, BB and CC etc, a lot of those mentioned on thus board, and for a while I thought NO 7 luminosity was going to be the one, but again, I dont like the feel of a liquid

I use a mix of two foundations from LG - the Double Take - which covers everything, and the balance and brighten - more of a CC.

Its so light, I forget Im wearing it

MissyB1 · 23/10/2024 22:05

I'm 56 and wear Boots hydroluminous tinted moisturiser. I find foundations are too heavy for my skin now.

user8754387 · 23/10/2024 22:10

Clinique even better

FinallyHere · 23/10/2024 22:14

You never see it advertised, but these really are the best in the business. Take some holiday, do whatever it takes, visit them, have them show you what really works for you

There is no colour they cannot supply.

Which brand?

wondabar · 24/10/2024 00:15

I've just purchased Trinny Destress which I'm really pleased with

JustWhatIAlwaysWanted · 24/10/2024 00:16

Boots hydroluminous foundation for me.

FinallyHere · 24/10/2024 00:37

@gcsedilemma

Sorry, really didn't mean to be mysterious

SwayingInTime · 24/10/2024 00:52

I mix two Laura Gellers too (for the right colour)

BreadInCaptivity · 24/10/2024 01:10

Right now I'm loving this:

www.vievebeauty.com/products/skin-nova-complexion-balm-medium-210

Not from boots but online.

It's really really easy and forgiving to apply (I use fingers as CBA with brushes and sponges) and gives a lovely glow without being shiny.

Smoothes everything out without settling into lines/pores and is really comfortable on my sensitive skin that tends to dryness. Feels more like skincare in texture than a foundation I find. Basically I slap it on like a moisturiser (though in lesser quantity)!😂

It says you can build it if you want more coverage but I've found I have no need when I just use concealer just where I need it.

Have tried loads of premium brands and this just seems to nail it for me.

Agree with pp's that avoiding matte is key and less is more.

Erborian CC

HolidayHappy123 · 24/10/2024 05:44

Eborium CC cream is a marvel. It looks white but changes to your skin colour and contains SPF. The Koreans are light years ahead of us in skincare. Available on Amazon and it only comes in 3 colours - light, medium and dark, so no need to try before you buy. Light works for most European light skin tones.

Lovetoread123 · 24/10/2024 05:46

Trinny London

Boots hydroluminous foundation for me.

Same, I get lots of compliments on my skin and I’m sure it’s actually the foundation. Good coverage without being heavy and a nice glow to it.

Aginplease · 24/10/2024 06:44

Thanks everyone, you have all given me different options, to read up about 😀

I have this and I'm not a massive fan. It's better than a lot of products but it's nowhere near as good as Vieve as I linked to up thread.

I do however really like their green colour corrector. It's fab just to dot on areas of redness to neutralise them meaning you need less of anything else you want to apply after (I tend to get a bit of redness in the winter round my nose for example).

Purplecatshopaholic · 24/10/2024 17:56

Another vote for Erborian CC cream. Awesome stuff. There’s the usual one, plus the colour correct one (green) as mentioned above, and a purple (brightening) one. All great on older skin.

Lovetoread123 · 24/10/2024 05:46

Trinny London

Again have this (told you I'd tried a lot) the BFF spf and the De-Stress.

I liked the destress (less so the sof) but again Vieve was better for my skin.
