Laser for facial veins

I'm thinking of laser for facial veins. I have loads of tiny ones, only a couple of really visible big ones, but the overall effect is quite mottled cheeks. I'm in my 50s.

I'm on the fence about it, not sure how good for your skin it is to zap it all over with lasers? The laser place gave a 'consultation' (chucked a leaflet at me) and a patch test and suggested 3 sessions.

Anyone have views / experiences? I've read that it's not always effective but even if it got rid of 50% I'd be ok with that.

I looked into it a little bit and it sounded like they tend to come back really quickly, so I decided I couldn't be bothered. Would be interesting to hear from someone who has had it done though.

I have had this done in the past, but I actually prefer electrolysis, if you can find a good practitioner. I've got pale rosy skin that is partial to red veins, so I probably get this treatment every 3-4 years. They both last about the same amount of time, but the electrolysis is cheaper, and I tend to have less of a reaction to it.

I've had electrolysis for them as well a few years ago, not sure it made much difference.

I guess I could do the laser with the low expectation that won't be that effective or last that long.

I spend hardly anything on skincare so don't mind paying out now and again for something that makes a semi permanent difference. My skin is ok - no spots, not many wrinkles. But I am jowly and pigmentation and veins could be improved. So limited options to improve it as creams won't help jowls or veins.

To be honest, when you see red veins reappearing that’s not old broken capillaries reappearing, it’s new ones popping up, so whether you use a laser treatment or electrolysis what actually makes a difference to how quickly you see them again is unfortunately lifestyle and genetic factors, rather than the treatment used.

I had a BBL laser (3 sessions) for redness and some broken veins (but i only had a few tiny ones around my nose) and I would say it maybe made 30% difference. Not worth the eye watering cost.

I have to say IPL has made a huge difference to me. But I do have a course about once a year.

Have you got a Lumea (or other home IPL device)? I used mine on a crop of broken capillaries by my nose left by an outbreak of rosacea. I’d had them a year or more and after a few zaps with my Lumea, they vanished.

I've found electrolysis did make quite a difference to mine and I was very happy with the results, but it's an ongoing thing, not a one-off treatment. I go once every 3 months to keep on top of them (costs about £70 a session in London).

Thanks all. @BookishType I don't have a Lumea but I could get one, I do have some dark facial hairs I could do with zapping as well. I see there is a series 700 one that is about £200 is that similar to the one you have?
