Does anyone have any experience of doing Avon?
I am hoping to earn a bit of extra cash, any advice would be gratefully received

I did it for a couple of years
its loads of work and not really much money
I hope you have a car and live in an affluent area where people will buy loads

I hope you have a better time than I did

Oh LOL Doesn't sound great!

I do have a car...and um well the area isn't that big where I am....

A friend of mine did it, but a long, long time ago. She never made any money because people kept losing the books or throwing them away, and she had to pay for them.

same here, I did it a couple of years ago, found it too tempting to spend my commision on stuff out of the book or the sale books that they send you.

Ludaloo · 24/04/2008 14:11

How much on average did you earn? And is it a lot of work?
Is there any outlay up front you have to give?

I don't actually wear much make up, so I hope I won't be tempted!

you have to pay a set up fee which i think was aboput £100 but they stop it out of you commision, so your not actually paying anything

Ludaloo · 24/04/2008 14:15

Hmmmm....doesn't look too great! I think I'll give it a go and see how it goes. If its not worth it then I can always give it up.

Thanks anyway ladies

Anyone doing it well?

sorry but i found it a hassle too. people would order things (if i was lucky), i would fill in the order form correctly to send to avon and there always seemed to be something missing or wrong when it arrived.

the commision was minimal and if i remember rightly i had to pay for the next lot of brochures out of that too, which didn't leave much profit!

Hi all, I have been a member of this site for two years now and wanted to share my success as a Working From Home Mum. I have managed to survive thanks to becoming an AVON Rep. I am now a Sales Leader. To read more about my story see lisaglover.myavon.co.uk

I did Avon for a year (stopped due to house move, new baby and new job!) and it was fine for getting a bit of extra cash.

The first time round is hard work as you literally have to drop a book in every house and most people just aren't interested. I put a little note in asking people to tick whether or not they wanted to keep getting the books.

But once you know who's buying and you get a set of regulars, it's pretty easy. I found it a good way to get to know the people in my area. It's never going to make you super rich but I found I averaged about the same each time so I knew roughly how much I would make and it all helps! Plus the products are pretty good - I still use them - and you can stock up on essentials like shampoo, sun cream, kids bubble bath etc, when they're on offer and dirt cheap.

MIL and Auntie both did it for years too and found it the same - once you get going it's very sociable and gives handy extra bit of money.
