Brands that cater to boobs

If you are a DD or above where do you buy your clothes? Nowhere seems to cater to boobs, mine make my top half a size 18 (but my waist is a 12) yet whenever I'm buying clothes a size 18 top/dress/tunic carers to an 18 waist but not an 18 bust. Help!

36F here. John Lewis own brand and Joe Browns work for me.

unsync · 19/10/2024 17:08

I started making my own for this very reason.

I am the same 32HH. I buy from all the normal shops, but have to buy floaty, or relaxed fit, or if fitted a get stretchy jersey, or ribbed. Fat Face is my go to for summer dresses, because they have shirred panels. So I can buy a 12, but it stretches round the boobage. Nobody's Child Starlight is a good dress, as it comes in tight, right at the waist, but I do need a 14 in that.

Not Hobbs.

I find phase 8 usually OK. Some John Lewis own brand.

For basics Asda longline vest tops & t shirts are good. They wash nicely. Just don't tumble dry. 100% cotton. I'm 38E and a 16 is a good fit.

LorettyTen · 19/10/2024 17:30

Surprisingly, Matalan are good for basic t shirts, both long and short sleeves. I'm 36F and size 16 fits well.

I haven't tried anything else from there.

Some at Simply Be but the quality has nosedived recently.

Monsoon do some nice dresses. Yours too.

There’s a company called Fairlie Curved who do clothes aimed at those with big boobs. Never ordered from them though so don’t know what the quality’s like.

I miss Bravissimo’s clothing range Pepperberry.

In my 30s. Tiny frame, J cup boobs.

I like an Australian brand called Forever New, Sezane knitwear (Gaspard cardigan) and Love and Roses at Next for basic T shirts that hang nicely with a looser fit. Basically I live in high waisted jeans and tucking in looser fit stuff!

I also really like Mint Velvet for more fitted tops- I find the fabric really thick to hide bra straps and the twist styles flattering on a curvy frame.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 19/10/2024 18:18

I havn't tried them, but Facebook keeps spamming me with adverts for Fabulous Clothing for fuller busts.

Crew Clothing works well for me (36 F/16).

Aparecium · 19/10/2024 18:22

I've tried on several items at Oliver Bonas that fitted my 36G bust very nicely, but were too tight on my size 16/18 waist, so their fit might be right for you.

OneRingToRuleThemAll · 19/10/2024 18:23

I'm a 34DD and wear a 16 top and 14 bottom almost everywhere. Dresses I just get in a 16

There’s a list on this link, it’s a compilation, I think, from several years ago so some of the companies have folded, but some of the links are active ( have just checked)

There’s also Pour Moi at Next - haven’t tried so can’t vouch for it.

Basically an hour glass figure as you describe is not catered for on the high street, I have the same problem and manage by buying tops and knitwear with some stretch and living with a wider waist than I actually need. I’m hoping to learn how to take things in a bit at the waist.

Bravissimo/Pepperberry clothes in used/new other condition are available on eBay - you can search by size.

I'm a 38G down from a 38 HH and I don't think there's a single fitted outfit in my wardrobe. I live in jersey tops of all types. Today it's an American university style sweatshirt.

I hunt out things in different shops as it really depends on the cut and fabric. I tend to find things are more accommodating when the target market is older like in Matalan or Next or Marks, or the supermarkets, but you still have to hunt around, and I’ve equally found things in New Look, Mango and Stradivarius.

The trend towards oversize has been helpful, I don’t buy stuff that swamps me but it tends to mean a shirt will do up and a T-shirt doesn’t pull. I even bought a standard T-shirt from Arket and it just about works. Often the question is, if I size up does it still look ok and often it does particularly if, as pp said, you can tuck into trousers to define your waist.

There are loads of nice cardigans around at the moment which are great for a big bust/mismatched figure. Tried some on in Zara yesterday.

I don’t wear dresses at all.

I've struggled to find clothes that fit properly ever since Bravissimo stopped their clothing line.

I've bought a few things recently from Fairlie Curved and they're ok - not as fitted as Bravissimo clothing but large enough to fit over without looking like maternity wear. I've also started buying men's jumpers and t-shirts because they're a longer cut and don't end up being unintentionally cropped.

Phase 8 would be my go to for dresses and smarter work tops.
