Jumpers with big boobs

Oh how I would love some polo neck jumpers/roll neck. Loads of them around in some lovely colours but I just can’t wear them without looking absolutely massive. I am a size 12. What are you wearing this autumn and winter if you’ve got a larger chest?

I wear them anyway.

Futurethinking2026 · 17/10/2024 06:56

I never realised you couldn’t wear jumpers with big boobs? As long as you have a decent bra, I’m not sure of the issue?

LaurieFairyCake · 17/10/2024 06:58

I have exactly the same problem, same size as you.

Last year I decided fuck this and bought a couple and I love them.

There are two that really work. Either a very thin fitted polo neck (with a V neck tank top over when needed for warmth plus then does the traditional V thing). This works because it's only my boobs that are big, I don't have arm or back fat.

The second is the mock polo I've got that is loose around the neck, sort of falls forward. It's also a Boxy fit so you can wear it with fitted jeans and then you don't look shapeless all over. This sort of falls forward effect means you can see your thin neck and creates the illusion on me that it's a slim person wearing a baggier top.

There's one third one I have where I've thought 'fuck it' and it's a Me and Me jumper with a detachable polo. I've worn it with the big thick polo collar and no, it didn't look great in a upper body seated photo (and you can wear it without) but I genuinely thought fuck it, it's warm and I don't have much of a neck but so what. Also it was the same boxy fit so walking around when I saw myself in shop windows the fitted bottom half applied.

Christ, I hope that's not too long winded Grin

Because they make the top half of me look massive. Very big over the shoulders and chest. Completely out of proportion and extremely unflattering.

I also wear roll necks anyway.

After catching footage of myself in various outfits on the ring doorbell camera I've realised there's no disguising them really, they're there whatever I wear.

OuterSpaceCadet · 17/10/2024 07:08

Yes I second the advice for thin and fitted to show the shape of the rest of you. I have a couple of ribbed ones from Uniqlo which are good.

ButtercupBeans · 17/10/2024 07:09

Lots of people have big boobs.

Don;t worry about it and get the jumpers.

SmellyScrambler · 17/10/2024 07:12

Oh op, I spent years worrying about this after watching too much Trinny and Susanna, who said you could only wear V necks with boobs. It’s nonsense. Just wear the jumpers.

Personally anything boxy doesn’t look right on me but it might look ok on you. Why not experiment with a few different shapes?

GoForARun · 17/10/2024 07:14

Forget anything:
High neck/ polo neck
Thick
Boxy

Get instead:
Cashmere (thin but super warm) cardis and leave the top couple of buttons undone to create a 'v-neck'

If you need warmth at your neck when you go outside add a thin/ gauzy/ cashmere scarf

Sassysoonwins · 17/10/2024 07:14

I have gigantic boobs but also wear thin polos in dark colours then add a long lanyard necklace to create the V shape. Works on teams camera pretty well. My house gets too cold for deep v necks!

BigDahliaFan · 17/10/2024 07:17

They make me look enormous too. But the long necklace works to create a V. Ones with a mock forward folding collar are ok. Or boatneck...

SnapdragonToadflax · 17/10/2024 07:20

I wear V neck, square neck, scoop neck, cowl neck, boat neck - anything that shows my collarbones. High necked clothes clothes just really, really don't suit me.

When I was slim in my youth I used to wear roll necks, I think that worked fine because my boobs were more like two perky watermelons, rather than a shelf of boobs now I'm middle aged.

merrymelodies · 17/10/2024 07:40

Cashmere is so flattering.

GettingStuffed · 17/10/2024 08:45

I wear fitted tops on my rather large boobs, and st size 12 they probably aren't as big as you think , unless you're done like a K cup.

I love to flaunt my boobs even though they aren't as big as they used to be post meno

Sorbiecorner · 18/10/2024 06:40

I get what you say about wear the jumpers but I really don’t feel comfortable. I did have a lovely jumper that had a great polo neck last Christmas. I wore it on Boxing Day to see family and the photos of me in it are dreadful. I do like cashmere though. Are there any particularly food and affordable brands?

OP posts:
GoForARun · 18/10/2024 07:33

Don't wear the jumpers! 😂

Cashmere and create a v-neck!

Cashmere is not cheap - but it's classic and you'll always look and feel amazing in it. It's an investment.

M&S, Uniqlo, Boden, JL - all have good 'twin set style' cashmere cardis. Now is the time to buy them, while they're in the shops in the lead up to Christmas.

friskybivalves · 18/10/2024 08:14

You can pick up great cashmere on eBay. I think good underwiring in your bra is as important as what goes over the top IYSWIM. If big boobs are properly supported then the shape is great. If you end up with what looks like a uniboob then you get the saggy-kitchen-shelf-about-to fall-off-the-wall look... not so good. Lift and separate all the way.

TheOGCCL · 18/10/2024 09:35

Jumpers in general don’t suit my big bust, long neck and broad shoulders, but particularly anything thick or bulky like cable knit or indeed high neck. Cardigans are way better as you break up the bust. I think cardigans are more versatile too, big thick jumpers have a limit to where they can be worn, eg probably not great for a smart ish office or a restaurant. I walk a lot so get warm.

If I want a high neck for warmth, I wear a thin viscose top (with some stretch) with a cardigan over it. I probably wouldn’t ever wear the top alone as it really shows how big my bust is compared to the rest of me but it looks nice just with the middle line of it showing imo.

I think mock turtle is slightly better than a full roll neck, potentially a cowl neck. I think collared jumpers can be quite good as they distract the eye and create the v neck. Other than that I pick thin, fine knits.
