Best looking shoes for plantar Fasciitis?

Can anyone recommend some good styles in Finn Comfort or Hoka that I can add specialist insoles to? I would be ordering online & they're all so ugly.
On recommendation I've ordered Oofos for home use - the picture attached. These don't look too bad but I appreciate they're not to everyone's taste.

I wear my oofos as slippers and when it’s really bad I wear them in winter with waterproof socks!!

I can’t get on with hokkas even though others can, I can only wear karhu metastis running shoes (look absolutely hideous but least I can walk).

in my experience insoles and normal shoes are useless for day to day but fine for short term.

it’s a bloody awful condition.

do you tape your foot, that helps

Queezee · 16/10/2024 12:24

My latest brainwave is I’ve ordered a sample of memory foam from eBay and I’m going to glue it to some superfeet insoles and buy boots one size too big to accommodate. I’ll let you know how this desperate measure goes 🤣🤣🤣

Cantonet · 16/10/2024 12:52

Hi @Queezee .
Yes, I had my foot taped yesterday. It feels supportive. In order to see whether custom insoles will help. I nearly died when I saw the potential price of the insoles 😂
I find firmer Insoles help over spongy ones here. Waterproof socks sound interesting ...

hope the taping helps, the way the private podiatrist showed me hurt even more so I’ve tried another method from tinterner.

i have an nhs physio appointment next week and have self referred to nhs podiatry because I’d like a scan to see what the true issue is.

it’s bloody awful isn’t it?

Cantonet · 16/10/2024 14:46

I had a scan yesterday & I've got a partially ruptured ligament. I've had it since last April when I tried a few shockwave treatments which worked the previous year in the other foot pretty quickly. Sadly it didn't really help this time. I've tried again yesterday with a different foot guy & it was much more powerful & painful. He was also much more informative. Apparently Hyaluronic acid injections can be used now in difficult cases. I've read that if you have the Plantar Fasciitis for a year, you've got a very high chance of having it for the next ten years 😟 Which I'm really trying to avoid. Plus with a lively spaniel I don't want to pay a fortune in dog walking bills.

The Oofos slides are so brilliantly comfortable.

They are great but what the hell fo we wear in the rain 🤣🤣

Cantonet · 04/11/2024 21:14

I bought a pair of fantastically comfortable trainers from Joya.
These ones in Burgundy. So soft, squishy & supportive. They also don't look bad under wide trousers or jeans.

I was given a pair of green slimflex insoles by the NHS podiatrist I saw. Prices vary online but they are nearly always under a tenner. I now have them in every pair of shoes. They really work for me.

Well I had PF for more than a year (in both feet), but attribute my 'cure' to oofos sliders, which I wear as slippers at home. I've not had any sign of PF for several years now, but continue to wear the oofos as a preventative measure.

Rocknrollstar · 04/11/2024 21:47

I bought insoles from Amazon - under a tenner and have them in every pair of shoes although I have had to buy a half size larger. I don’t like oofos - they aren’t made for wide feet.

ForPearlViper · 04/11/2024 21:57

I don't have PF but I do have another common foot condition called Morton's Neuroma. It was diagnosed around 15 years' ago via a GP referral to a podiatrist. I got orthotic insoles at that point. I realised it was it about I got new ones and I was able to refer to the NHS podiatry team in my area. I now need more more advanced orthotics. It has taken four appointments and four variations to get it just right right. It was all free. Speak to your GP and see if you can get referred in your area.

Several of my friends have just gone the private podiatrist route. All of them have ended up with the equivalent of the NHS entry level orthotics at an eye watering price. You can buy them yourself all over the internet very cheaply. If a private podiatrist tells you that you custom orthotics be wary and try a GP referral first.

I love my Oofos sliders too. My foot feels so 'soothed' in them.

I have insoles in all my shoes too.
I've been wearing Vionic shoes for years. But I have to say the Joyas are infinitely more comfortable.

My Gp's are absolutely useless & it would be a very large Ng waiting list for treatment here. Plus I've already had this issue since last April. Hence I'm keen to sort it out as quickly as possible. Plus I have a Spaniel with a good proportion of Working in her. I've been unable to take her on good long walks for a long time.
I walked her yesterday & my foot is really sore today.

PF sufferer. I’ve been wearing Hokas with insoles, which are okay. How’s the sizing in the Joyas and would they work for slim feet?

Cantonet · 05/11/2024 19:22

I have standard width feet @pepperaunt & these are wide fit, so I was fully prepared to send them back. I bought off an ebay seller that does do returns. But they fit fine & are so supremely soft to wear. I've just tied the laces up tight.
I'm just so pleased that I can wear these with my other burgundy accessories & walk for miles in comfort. Ok they're not as nice looking as my Adidas burgundy platform trainers, but they look just fine.

I have been wearing fitflop loafers and specialist running trainers. Had it for about 6-7 months. The use of a wooden foot roller before I walk in the mornings and then 3 times in the day has nearly sorted it.

Yes, I had PF in both feet and rollers are great. Also did some stretching exercises. Now, I have the joy of peroneal tendonitis in one foot from walking on the beach barefoot. My own silly fault, so back to the icing, rolling, stretching routine again.

Copperoliverbear · 05/11/2024 23:44

I wear HOKA trainers and my feet and legs feel so much better at one point when I stood up I could not put my foot on the ground, since I have been wearing HOKA I don't have that problem.
Plantar fasciitis is awful.

Cantonet · 14/11/2024 09:31

I wear Hoka soft walking boots with one of those curved soles too. I do have to put an arch support in though, as there's no natural support there.
My Oofos slides have caused a blister on the side of my foot so I'm back in my Vionic slippers again. They're painful on the heel!
I've ordered the Oofos clogs now. Here's hoping they're not as narrow. Plus some sturdy Joya walking boots. It's all becoming rather expensive.... . All this investment in my feet.

GofE · 14/11/2024 10:00

Can't help with shoes as such, but, stretching cured my PF. Calf stretching etc and some sports massage helps too. It's all generally down to over-tightness. Stretching is v painful at first but persevere. :-)

GreekBeaver · 14/11/2024 10:11

I've had PF for 15 years now, sometimes very painful and sometimes manageable but always there. What works has changed over the years. At the moment it is cushioned insoles in all shoes (- always sizing up so I can fit them in). Previously I used the more shaped harder ones but they hurt now. I mainly wear trainers - can manage in smarter shoes, even with a small heel, for short periods of time occassionally. But also stretching is the thing that really helps - especially when getting up from bed or from sitting down. And if going for a long walk or going to be on my feet alot I tape my feet. Even though I have had it for so long and expect it will be with me for life, most of the time it is manageable. I am doing couch to 5k currently which I never thought I'd be able to do - I just jog very slowly and on grass and tracks rather than pavement. I also have dogs who need walking (including a lively spaniel). It's horrible when it's bad - living with that constant pain is grim - but it does get better with time and management.

Cantonet · 14/11/2024 10:38

@GreekBeaver how do you tape your foot? There's so many different videos online.I've got some tape from the foot guy, but he's forgotten to send me his taping video. It's interesting that you now prefer a soft sole. I think I'm going the same way. Or maybe I've just been spoilt by my super-squishy Oofos.
That's amazing you are now running with PF. I think my spaniel caused my PF by rupturing the Plantar Ligament as she is a bonkers rescue. She chases the sheep & the wild ponies around here.

I don’t know much about the 2 brands you posted about but Joya trainers are very comfy as I’ve got some.

You should have plantar fasciitis for approx 18 months or so then with exercises you do it should start to go away plus footwear changes.
