Slipper wisdom, please!

I have never worn slippers- but I'm being drawn to them in old age! I have wide feet, I live in a tricky house with lots of awkward steps, I don't like frills and fluff. Would Mahabis be right? Or are there different/better brands?

I have birkinstock slippers. I can't recommend them enough. I retired a pair after 12 years of service and replaced them.
They have a soft birkinstock footbed and then a felt clog shape upper. The sole is fully covered in rubber.
They are about £80 but well worth it due to longevity.
No frills, no fuss, no fuzz

I have those Birkenstock slippers; and the heels are enclosed, unlike many other Birkenstocks, so they stay on.

Beware of loose-fitting or backless slippers, especially if you have lots of steps: they say that slippers and stairs are one of the biggest dangers in the home.

I've found fleece lined crocs to be an excellent slipper substitute. Comfy, warm and can be used when putting bins out etc

I like slippers with a proper sole, as a PP said, useful when you need to pop into the garden or into the drive briefly.

I buy mine from the slipper company on eBay. A tenner a pair of lovely fluffy moccasins and they always last a full year, always size down as they stretch. I do have wide feet though.

I've also got Birkies and fleece lined crocs, as pp. I have wide feet too - and plantar fasciitis. I found that I needed to go up a size in the crocs

Another vote for fleece lined crocs. Support your feet, great on uneven surfaces and toasty warm. I hate having cold feet.

Depending on availability, obviously, but for the last few years I have found pure sheepskin ankle boots, with full wool lining from Aldi of all places! £19.99 so far! Yes they're technically actual boots but they have a good rubber sole and they are ridiculously warm and comfortable. I now only wear these as slippers and they last really well. I always try to get another pair when I see they have them and now have a few colours (eg black, couple of different greys...)/slightly different styles.

I do buy boots from moshulu too, but looking at their prices for slipper boots I'll be sticking with my bargain-ous Aldi sheepskin boots! I think I currently have four pairs so will last me a while!
