Shampoo help please!

So, for years since I let my hair go grey I stopped using shampoo and conditioner that contain sulphates and silicones. I’m lucky that although my hair is grey, it’s soft and a shiny silver (or so I thought).

Anyway, today I showered at my MIL’s due to a broken boiler and had to borrow her shampoo and conditioner as I forgot mine. They happened to be ones with silicones and sulphates in. Well, I can’t believe the difference. It’s even more shiny and has styled so well. I’m so tempted to return to ‘normal’ stuff.

Why is it we should avoid sulphates and silicones again please?!

Same.
Have been using 'clean' shampoo for ages.

Used Mum's Tresemme and have gone back!!

I think it's only to be avoided if you have curly hair and want it to be curly. Otherwise I don't think it matters

I do because I have a strong wave/lose curl.

Thank you. I didn’t know that at all! I just thought there must be a reason. I’ll be off to buy some like my MIL I think!

Yep, it's a curly thing. Sulphates clean the hair more, silicone leaves it silky. Both of them leave a fine coating on the hair which weighs it down and so flattens curls and waves.
