"Eleven" Frown Lines Does Anything Work?

19 replies

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 13/10/2024 13:41

Have tried Botox and Fillers and I've still got them! I must be the only person for whom Botox doesn't work or one of them is just that deep.

I've now cut in a fringe. What is the best of all the different named lotions and potions out there what will really make a difference?

I don’t think any creams will help. You could try Tretinoin, but it will be a long time before you notice a difference. You could also try skin patches worn overnight to smooth out the skin. Perhaps you need to have the Botox more frequently.

Everyone I've been to for Botox and I've tried a few, is mystified that there's no significant difference between treatments

Botox usually knocks mine out for a good few months. Are you going to a reputable place? Some use different toxins but Botox is the best one for me.

HermioneWeasley · 13/10/2024 13:53

I was going to say Botox. No idea why it wouldn’t be working on you. Have you asked your practitioner?

Fleasies · 13/10/2024 13:53

I saw a significant improvement (but not erasure) using the Ordinary Airgireline followed by Matrixyl morning and night. I do massage them along my forehead and I’m sure if I looked at Face Yoga, that would probably be more effective.

Do you need to wear glasses or ever wear sunglasses? I should wear glasses for distance but I’m vain so don’t unless I’m driving. That makes me squint a lot and makes my frown lines more pronounced.

Namechangeforadhd · 13/10/2024 13:54

You're not alone re the botox. Some people gain immunity to the toxin very quickly and/or metabolise it very quickly. Surprised fillers don't work though. That was my next plan! Damn!

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 13/10/2024 13:55

The last place I went to was very reputable and she looked at it and said she didn't think it would work and said she would do it for free and I could come back if it did. It felt different at first but visibly the difference was negligible

Have you tried different brands? That worked a little bit for me.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 13/10/2024 13:59

@Namechangeforadhd

She wouldn't do filler, the last person said that the site was too close to my eye and she wouldn't risk her licence.

I'd already had quite a lot of filler in a Beauticians it created like a bump texture and as I say didn't last.

Relieved to hear that Botox hasn't worked for someone else as shit as it is.

I was hoping to get some brand names here. I use La Roche Posay at the moment

I've glad you told me Botox doesn't work. As my mum keeps implying I need it on my 'number 11'. I've got a very expressive face so it looks really obvious. Loads of lines on forehead too. But my hair is too fine for a decent fringe.
I bought some frownies once and they were alright but it doesn't last.

Namechangeforadhd · 13/10/2024 14:05

Oh sorry that's not what I meant: different brands of botulinum... Each brand is slightly different in terms of the protein etc that is in it. So sometimes moving from Botox to a different brand can help (for a bit. But your body is quick to learn!)

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 13/10/2024 14:10

@BobbyBiscuits it worked when I first got it definitely but that was years ago and I've built up some sort of immunity to it it would seem,

@BobbyBiscuits

Frownies were shite didn't even stick to my face!

Do you wear glasses? If not, when did you last have your eyes tested? You might be squinting which could exacerbate the 11s.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 13/10/2024 14:13

Oh ok @Namechangeforadhd I have no idea what the brands were, not a clue. Had it off four different practitioners

No glasses or vision probs

All I can suggest is sunglasses. I’ve always worn them year round at the merest hint of sunshine as my eyes are very light sensitive. An unexpected bonus is that I still don’t have 11s at 71.

outforawalkbiatch · 13/10/2024 14:43

Tretinoin has taken mine down a bit
