Dyson Airwrap - wet hair and price?

Woollypullover · 12/10/2024 09:11

Is it possible to straighten hair from wet, using it?

Not sure I can justify the (very expensive) cost of it for Dd for Christmas. Does anyone know of anywhere selling it with a discount please?

Thanks

They did a test on channel 5 this week and the airwrap came out with the decision it's actually overpriced. They used a babyliss one as control and both testers preferred it overall.

I dry my hair with the Airwrap hairbrush attachment and it comes out fairly straight and sleek. I naturally have fine hair that otherwise dries into a mixture of ringlets and waves, with frizz.

i have had it for years, after trying other similar cheaper versions that all seemed to eventually break. The rotating power cord, which stops it tangling as you try is good, as I found that the Revlon one cracked after using for a while, due to tangling. Also you can remove the brush head and wash it, which is good if you use styling product, and you can’t do with some others. That was a few years ago though and so it may be that the competitors products have improved in the meantime.

I wish there was a’try before you buy’ option with the Dyson, I am tempted, but haven’t succumbed so far!

They do have a device now which is made to straighten hair from wet, it’s called the airstraight. It’s very expensive for something that can only do one thing though!

The Airstrait is for drying hair straight from wet. If you buy from the Dyson website you have 30 days to return it if you don't get in with it.

I bought one second-hand on eBay and it’s one of the best things I’ve ever bought myself! How successful the curls are comes down primarily to your hairtype (as well as technique, product etc.) which is why you get people saying it doesn’t work - which makes sense when you can’t try it first. But I do think it’s worth every penny if your hair holds a curl. Of course if she just wants it to straighten then that’s not an issue, but I’d say it’s a bit of a waste of money if that’s all she wants to use it for and she won’t be doing any blowouts or curls too etc.

I’d advise pushing the boat out and getting the longer curl wand if her hair is longer but definitely keep an eye out on eBay. Lots of people buy them and find it’s not for them after a couple of uses so they’re pristine.
