fcked my hair up

teeteringontheborderline · 09/10/2024 22:14

tried to cut my hair earlier and in order to get it straight, ended up going far far shorter than I wanted.
It's now a bob with bangs but very thick and abrupt and about ear level; it looks stupid, bowl cut ish and frankly ridiculous as I have quite a moon face due to havig chronically swollen glands and a fat forehead. (yes, the aesthetic gods did not bless me).
Is there anything I can do to sort it - I was thinking buzz it all the same length all over then style like a pixie cut? or is it just a matter of waiting?

I really really really do NOT want to have to go to a hairdresser's for multiple reasons.

I think it looks quite cute OP, nothing like as bad as you are seeing.
How about a thick Alice band?

WeddingShmedding · 10/10/2024 12:28

I agree that looks fine! And I'm impressed at anyone doing their own hair you must save a bomb. I agree a fresh colour and a really good condition and it'll look even better. I think the side parting works so you don't need to tie it or clip it unless you want to.

Lubilu02 · 10/10/2024 12:33

To be fair, I think you have a lovely shape face and will be able to wear most hair styles and colours.
Maybe, just get a nice conditioning mask for the blonde and play around with styles.
Could maybe add some waves and see how you feel then or while it is shorter try a semi permanent colour you've been wanting to try.
Like others have said, I wouldn't grab the scissors just yet. Leave it for a few days try to get a feel of how you want to style it.
From what I understand about thinning, it would be the underneath section of your hair they would normally take weight out of.
But honestly, I think you can rock that look! Wish I had the guts to play around with colour in my hair.

wulves · 10/10/2024 13:40

Just scrunch in some styling products and you’ll be done! Looks fine.

HelterSkelter224 · 10/10/2024 14:00

Looks totally fine, definitely not what I had been picturing from your description! I think as others have said a nice deep condition and a colour would make a difference. You definitely don't have a "moon face", please don't be so hard on yourself x

Comedycook · 10/10/2024 14:06

It doesn't look half as bad as I thought it would be from reading your first post!

By the way, your face isn't a moon shape at all....I have an actual moon shape face! It's very chubby and the shape of a plate 😂. Yours is nothing like that.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 10/10/2024 14:15

Wear a spooky mask and tell eveyone you are working on your outfit for Halloween.

This is stage one.

TokyoSushi · 10/10/2024 14:18

It's totally fine!

teeteringontheborderline · 10/10/2024 11:55

washed it and done a messy side part. will dye it all one colour and leave it to grow out i think - it does grow very fast, it ws only dyed these colours midway through August and there was none of the black/brown roots at all then, now there is about 2.5"

thanks for stopping me doing something that would have taken even longer to come back from, folks

honestly? I think it looks pretty damn cool 😊i was expecting something awful, but this looks arty and intentional

TENSsion · 10/10/2024 14:20

It’s not that bad at all. If I saw you in real life I’d assume you were growing out a pixie cut rather than that you’d had a self inflicted disaster. Once you have sorted out the colour, it’ll be perfectly fine.

Now you just need to focus on some self care. Your scalp must feel very uncomfortable/ painful so please get the right treatment for that. Get a good leave in conditioner and a couple of hair masks. It’ll be looking and feeling great in no time

SquatWeightaMinute · 10/10/2024 14:25

It’s not so bad OP - honestly I wouldn’t even register it as a bad hair cut.

you could try a bit of Brad Mondo to get some shape in. The bobbles and snip into it thing. Have a google think it’s wolf cut or butterfly cut of something.

Winglessvulture · 10/10/2024 14:39

I think it actually looks alright. As someone else said maybe a conditioning mask for your hair as it looks a little dry (as a fellow bleached hair person I recommend the Coco loco range by Lee Stafford). You could use some slides/clips to give it a bit more structure, or even curl it to give it some wave that would also disguise any uneven elements.

thetailorofgloucester · 10/10/2024 14:51

I agree with previous comment. You look really cool - I like the side parting.

Paganpentacle · 10/10/2024 14:54

You're doing yourself a mis-service- you look fine to me.
Also- beanie hats lol- hides a multitude of sins.

clarrylove · 10/10/2024 14:54

That looks pretty good! No where near as bad as I was imaging from your OP.

StasisMom · 10/10/2024 15:06

I really like it! It's edgy!

mydamnfootstuckinthedoor · 10/10/2024 15:21

Ideas:

  1. Side combs to take it off your face and add a bit of shape.
  2. Pull back into tiny ponytail and clip on hairpiece.
  3. Head wrap (always my go-to!) and huge earrings
  4. Dye it a weird colour and brazen it out!
BTW - it doesn't look too bad at all - I rather like the "messy" look!
GettingStuffed · 10/10/2024 18:30

Get some mousse and scrunch it. I'm currently plucking up courage to go to the hairdressers as my hair is too long.

AutumnTimeForCosy24 · 10/10/2024 18:45

I really like it in the second photo!

in the third photo it just looks like it needs conditioning.

first one it looks ok.

you have a lovely neck & I can only assume you're being overly self critical of your aesthetics as I can't see you looking awful under the scribbles.

I hate hairdressing salons, my hairdresser went off to do something else during Covid & I didn't want to go to a shiny salon, run by the cast of made in Chelsea. I found a very small one, just the two owners & not glossy. Two very normal mid 30's Mums. Ideal!! Not been cut since the week before lock down. But just long straight hair & fringe. £27.50.

LittleBoPeepHasLostHerShit · 10/10/2024 18:53

Your hair looks trendy and cute and you definitely don't like like someone who is 'not genetically blessed'!

Username197 · 10/10/2024 19:00

I agree it’s not terrible! However a few conditioning treatments would be good for hair and scalp. These can be bought cheaply from budget chemists like body care/savers.

Hair is something you wear every day and is worth investing in. May help mh too.

I fully understand cost is a factor in going to a salon. Have you thought about using an apprentice or going to your local college? I have paid over £150 every 6-7 weeks on my hair. My hairdresser went rogue so I went to my friends daughter who was a trainee- was about £20 for same things! They generally fully supervised too x

AmICrazyToEvenBother · 10/10/2024 19:09

It looks fine!

Also, there's no way you have a moon face!

menopausalfart · 10/10/2024 19:12

I cut all mine off two years ago due to over-dying it and it looking absolute shite.
It didn't suit me but it felt amazing! Didn't take long to grow back.

menopausalfart · 10/10/2024 19:13

Like you, I never go to the hairdresser. It gives me anxiety just thinking about it.
