Anybody dye their own eyebrows?

If so, how easy it is to do?

I loving having my eyebrows waxed and tinted, but CBA having to go every month to get it done.

I would ideally like to start tinting my own and going every other month to my beautician for a wax.

Can anyone recommend a good eyebrow dye if anyone does do their own?

It's really easy. I get Refectocil and the developer from amazon. Apply vasoline around the brows to stop dye getting on your skin and apply it with a cotton bud. It's really very easy and I've been doing it for years.

Yes, I've done my own brows and lashes for about 15 years. My advice would be to avoid the stuff in Boots etc. like the plague and go to a salon shop.

I find the Julienne brand the best. You need to buy the tint and the developer separately, it should cost less than a tenner and will easily last you more than a year.

It's very easy to do.

Anybody done it with their hair dye? I dye my own roots every month or so and I keep wondering about sticking some on my brows but I keep chickening out. It would only be a shade darker but I'm worried about it not coming off my skin. It washes off my scalp fine though, so in theory ought to wash of brow skin??

I started with Dyebrow and moved on to Just For Men beard dye. Super easy.

It's not recommended as it's closer to your eyes and the skin on your face is more sensitive/prone to reaction.

In theory you should be able to I suppose! Like I said above, if you protect the skin around your brows with a thin layer of vasoline (I put this on with a cotton bud too) you shouldn't get the staining.

I wouldn't use hair dye, it'll dye your skin as well. I use Eyelure Dybrow, it does about 6 or 7 applications, so works out really cheap.

I do exactly this minus the Vaseline and cotton bud, I use a tiny brush.

Dybrow used to be excellent but I find it an utter waste of money now. They've changed the formulation. Don't waste money on it. I now use Schwarzkopf brow tint from Savers. It's excellent.

Don't use hair dye! The peroxide is much stronger and can cause burning or worse around the delicate eye area.

Eyelash tint peroxide is roughly 6%
Hair dye is 40%

It's very easy to dye eyebrows mix in a small egg cup and use an orange stick to mix very well and apply very small amounts on the hairs, try not to get on your skin. Leave 15 mins and remove with damp cotton wool.

If you do get any on your skin, remove with damp quips or cotton wool. Any stains will wash off the next day.

Use a mix of brown and black to get the level darkness you like . Blue black is very dark. So wouldn't recommend

Yes, I use Dyebrow. I agree to get a shade lighter than you think you need, but it’s very easy and the results are really good. Be careful with it on carpets and bedding, though.

wildthingsinthenight · 04/10/2024 13:45

Look at Alex Beard on instagram. She does hers with Just For Men.
She's a great account to follow generally.

OuterSpaceCadet · 04/10/2024 14:58

Thanks for the info on peroxide levels, hadn't thought of that! Just for men beard seems a great shout, I had no idea this product even existed, let alone in so many shades!

Fanonhighest · 04/10/2024 17:47

Thanks all!!

Just ordered the Eyelure kit off Amazon to see how I go. If it goes okay, I’ll look into the more expensive stuff.

So you leave it on for 15 mins and then wipe off with a damp bit of cotton wool? That seems to be what they do when I get them done at the beauticians but 15 mins sounds quite long!
