Non surgical facelift?

JaneIves · 30/09/2024 13:42

I'm about to hit 50.

I think I look pretty good for my age, but I've definitely noticed a little sag around the jawline, my hooded lids are looking more hooded and complexion can look a little dull at times. I wear a little make up, all I need as a base is the erborian CC water, and a little powder.

I'm contemplating doing something, but I don't know what really.
Maybe fillers? But that's a cycle.
Maybe a little non surgical lift? I really don't know much about those.

I have to be careful with creams/lotions and potions as I've had several bad reactions over the years, I have a severe reaction to anything containing methylisothiazolinone.

I just want to look less tired!

Crikey. Fillers and probs Botox but you’re worried about lotions ?
Why would you fiddle if you admit you look good for your age.

The thing about non surgical procedures is that they are expensive, involve commitment to a lot of regular appointments which often have downtime, and have little result which doesn’t last long. I’ve tried several. I recently asked about trying one again, and was told it had been discontinued as it wasn’t very effective. Yet at the time it was over hyped up and cost hundreds! I feel bitter about the money wasted. These treatments should be tried and tested before advertising them, it feels like a bit of a con imo.
Apparently, polynucleotides injections are the thing now. I did have one treatment , but couldn’t deal with the downtime which was about 5 days of staying inside. You are left with very visible blebs ( and some little bruises) which make you look like an alien. I don’t know how anyone could face going into work after that, and you need three at least, at approximately £325 a treatment!
Fillers properly done can have a good effect, especially around the Marionette lines area. Expect some bruising. I wouldn’t risk the tear trough fillers, but many have them. Never had Botox so can’t say. I have my own LED mask, and I always feel refreshed after using it, but you have to be consistent. Don’t get a cheapo mask, it is useless without it having the approved standards.
You could of course, get a face lift. I’m seriously thinking about it.
In the meantime, get started on tretinoin serum ( prescribed, eg Dermatica, not otc), good spf, and moisturiser.

I'm considering options, unlikely I'll ever go through with any of it if I'm being completely honest.

I just don't look like 'me' lately. This weird older person keeps staring back at me!

Perhaps I'm feeling a little melancholy too, which is perfectly normal.

So please, keeps your snipes to yourself.

Have a look at Mint Threads. I've seen some great results.

Totally agree about all the non-invasive stuff and how expensive and virtually useless it is. I've had Morpheus8, HiFu, Elixis & other things I cannot remember the names of. Really they have made no to little difference, but it's impossible to say for certain because who knows where my jowls would now be without them.
The latest upsell was Softwave which I flat out refuse to do as it sounds painful and I just don't believe before and after photos.

I had Cutis Lift this summer. Three sessions. It isn’t cheap. Was painful although I had numbing cream for the second two treatments which helped.

I did notice a difference. I looked more awake. More definition. Just fresher.

I did it as a 60th birthday present to myself.

I dithered for years about botox. Now I've finally had it ill probably keep having it as it makes a big difference. I don't have the very frozen one (although quite tempted to have loads in my frown lines!!), it has smoothed my forehead and lifted the tail of my eyebrow slightly which has made my lids a bit less hooded. It's smoothed out my number 11s but I only had a bit there. It's barely noticeable tbh but just makes me look a bit more sprightly and awake.

She has recommended I have a bit near the corners of my mouth which she thinks will lift it a bit.

Thanks all.
I'll be googling these suggestions later!

Had a look at before and after photos on site and couldn’t see any discernible difference. Sounds like the Morpheus 8.
I’m a bit of a coward with these painful procedures!

I have an allergy to the same thing! It makes the skin around my eyes go crazy. It's awful when it flares up.

I couldn't use Tret for that reason, it absolutely wrecked my skin.

I get Botox which is an absolute wonder, and am looking at marionette fillers, but just not sure about that yet.

My friend is having her hooded eyes...something'd? I don't know what but it's a day surgery.

Blepharoplasty

Rene Guinot Liftadermie is a good start & can give immediate visible results, although it won't impact drooping eyelide.

LateMumma · 30/09/2024 22:05

Has anyone tried RF microneedling? I've seen encouraging before and afters, but don't know anyone who's had it done

ADHDHDHDHD · 30/09/2024 22:28

I've had plasma pen, microneedling and a few other things. I think they all add up. But the key is SPF which you can't go back in time for.

I really saw a difference. The first session especially. The other two sessions not so dramatic but definitely the first one.
