Bra and saggy breast

I went to John Lewis two years ago for my first proper bra fitting and was surpised in the extreme to be told I was a 32E not a 34C as I had always thought! I understand a lot more about how cup sizes work now.

However - my breast are like spaniel's ears from babies and breastfeeding and the two bras I have now in the "right" size just gape at the top. The first bra the sales assistant just sort of said it is the right cup size but you have lost volume as if that was that.

Is there a company or bra that provides a decent looking bra for people like me? I can't be in the minority - can I?

Do the straps need shortening? I’d perhaps visit bravissimo to get re sized …

WonderingWanda · 25/09/2024 07:01

Would push up bras help they have extra padding in the bottom.

A balcony bra might help? It sounds like you need try different styles/shapes of bras to get the right fit?

Balcony or plunge might suit better. I dont like full cup bras as I have the wrong breast shape for them

I agree with pp about trying to get to a Bravissimo as it’s not just about size, it’s shape as well.

I'm the same after breastfeeding. And after a proper fitting I discovered I'm 32C not 34B. Has made a massive difference to the fit.

I don't think that JL sales assistant did well enough by you. She should know what brands would suit you best.

I got great service in Selfridges in Manchester and the woman really knew her stuff. I ended up with a couple of Elle MacPherson balcony bras which have been perfect. I agree that might be a good style for you.

It's bra shape that's the issue, I'm the same. A balcony is the worst possible shape for me but a push up bra (despite being on the larger cup size) works better. Make sure you scoop from your armpit to position your breast within the bra.

Thank you this is so helpful - it was a full cup bra I first got

Hadn’t thought about the bra shape

Mine are similar. I wear padded push up bras from new look. There's plenty of padding around the bottom/sides so my boobs sit nicely in them and that gives them a nice rounded shape rather than the emptiness in the top of the cup.

Boob or bust give advice on how to work out your breast shape and some ideas on what bra shape will fit you best
