Stylish travelling overnight flight

I’m about to travel long haul business for a holiday (for the first time).
I’m ridiculously excited about the lounge and the lie-flat bed!
I know loads of you will do this all the time and just rock up in your everyday stuff but I thought I’d treat myself to a comfortable stylish outfit I feel great it.
I read somewhere that cashmere hoodies are (or were?) a thing. I have a pair of smart black joggers but not sure about them.
I’m a size 10 and 1.60m if that matters.

Please share any insight you might have. I’ve just enough time to order online as we fly next week. Thanks!

Great. Do report back as we're probably going to end up on Air Canada to Hawaii via Vancouver (bizarrely) in May. Remember that you can use any of the star alliance lounges and the United Lounge is my favorite.

I don't rate Air Canada at all :( travelled in July London - Calgary in BC and it was extremely underwhelming 😑😭 the food was ok but nothing mind blowing, the wine service was very bizzare they used trolley like on economy flight, which is not the end of the world but if you compare to BA flights, when you order wine you don't get served from the trolley, Qatar also don't do it. The crew was ok but looked so unenthusiastic. The amenity kit was really good tho (aqua di parma) 🥰🥂

We did the same in July. Also not overly impressed with the whole Air Canada experience. One stewardess even told me off for not eating the prawns on the starter that I had said I didn’t want! The lounge at Heathrow was awful too. We flew back from Vancouver, and the BC lounge there was way better. If you are flying Air Canada OP, when you go in the BC lounge at Vancouver, turn left to go upstairs. They rope off the stairs, with a member of staff to let people through, but the food and service are way better than downstairs.

As pp have mentioned, Vancouver is very casual. We had dinner at Five Sails, which is one of the top restaurants, and most people were very casually dressed. Think shorts, t-shirts and trainers or birkenstocks. Thankfully, I had decided to go smart casual!

Don't worry about the clothes but I'd recommend investing in ear cancelling headphones if ur airline doesn't provide them. Got them recently in Premium Economy with Singapore Airlines and it was a game changer so gonna get them for myself for future if they're not provided

I always wear cashmere set and take good eye mask as they give crap ones.. and take a melatonin pill.

I'm still on the hunt for the right pair of trousers for an overnight flight (but I'll be slumming it in economy!)......I bought some new yoga pants type trousers but they go baggy and saggy really easily. Tops I'm fine for, got loads of tshirts and hoodies but maybe I'm just overthinking the trousers!

I travel long haul a lot and have a uniform
Lulumelon Dance Studio https://www.lululemon.co.uk/en-gb/p/dance-studio-mid-rise-jogger-full-length/prod9080134.html?dwvar_prod9080134_color=0002 - sized up for a bit more comfort, elasticated ankles so no pee on floor issues, and the material doesn't bag like leggings or sweats can.
Uniqlo built in bra top https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/products/E465708-000/00?colorDisplayCode=06&sizeDisplayCode=003 - no bra wires to bother you on the flight but still supportive
A long cashmere cardigan - can't remember where from but it's got a rolled collar so it's warm on the neck.
Birkenstocks with socks - slip on/slip off shoes for security, on flight, walking about (I do use their slippers when going to the toilet)
My own choice of Facial mist and moisturiser in hand luggage - but you can always use theirs as well.

Enjoy Vancouver - brilliant city. And all these items would rework there as well.

My long-haul outfit is always the same:

Hush harem joggers - bunched ankles, so no chance of the fabric soaking up any 'spillages' on the loo floor.
Longline Primark vest.
Cashmere cardi
Birkenstocks and wool socks
Pashmina that can double up as scarf/extra blanket

RedPalace · 26/09/2024 10:03

Can't edit - but would like to point out - just in case its not obvious - I don't wear white trousers as in the link for lulu melon 😀 I have the black

Movinghouseatlast · 26/09/2024 10:06

I usually wear a maxi dress so it feels like a nightie! In winter I wear thin thermal leggings underneath which I take off before I arrive.

I bought a cashmere poncho last year and it was a gamechanger. It's warm, it's stylish, it folds up small, it's very useful when you get off the flight too.

Kiuyni · 26/09/2024 10:10

I've just flown business class. I wore some nice trackies from eleven loves, a white t-shirt and a cashmere crew neck from m and s. Nordic patterned socks and gold Birkenstock sandals! My own blanket/scarf. Sunglasses AND reading glasses on my head for the first hour as id forgotten tthey were both on my head.

@Transam we travel long haul frequently and I always wear a midi jersey dress in a dark colour, I've got a lovely navy Sweaty Betty one, with a cashmere poncho or hoodie over. I usually wear trainers and put some sandals in my bag. I like the fact I've been really comfortable but don't look creased when I arrive!
