mid-rise trousers for short lady

Hi, I am adjusting to being shorter post menopause. I've lost height, it's genetic - women in my family do. I'm now mid 60s still working and want to look professional etc. I've just lost quite a bit of weight and need to buy some new clothes. I was 5ft 6, now 5ft 3. And my middle section from bottom of boobs to crotch seems to have lost the inches. Also waist, which used to be narrow is now not. Probably v ordinary post meno stuff. I'd love wide pleated flowing trousers but I don't think I can carry them off - and - most trousers now of all sorts are high waisted and this doesn't work on me at all, the waist band seems to come just under my bust and it's most uncomfy and looks odd.

If anyone knows a trouser style or brand that makes a low-rise/mid-rise trouser in a natural fabric, or natural blend I'd love recommendations. I'd love a fitted wool trouser that's not black.

Surprisingly, I’d suggest you have a good look at Toast. In my experience their trousers can work really well for shorter people if you get the right size. So it’s worth taking your time and reading the reviews for individual items. (Or going into a physical shop if convenient.)

These are at the higher end of their price range, with good reason. Obviously they have cheaper trousers.

OP I'm 5ft and for work I generally find Mango or Zara cropped/ankle length trousers fit best. Even if I have to have the length taken up, I find the hips and waist-to-bottom-of-fly-length better than Whistles, Reiss, Other Stories etc.

They do a range of styles - including straight leg, tapered leg, narrow leg etc. All in colours/patterns suitable for work. Been wearing them for years.

If buying online they're often called 'suit' trousers or basics.

Thank you so much for replying with an idea for me.

I thought Toast was for tall people so I'll definitely go into store to have a look! BTW - I really like the trousers you posted.

Your post set off a "ting" of realisation in my mind. Of course - clothes that originate in countries that have shorter female populations are much more likely to have clothes that fit me now I am a shortie. I'll look at Mango, Zara and Massimo Dutti too. Thanks too for pointing me at suit trousers, especially as I'd quite like a suit jacket too.
