My forehead is an oil slick…

… can anyone help? I’ve always had combination skin but lately my forehead is so greasy, I feel like a pubescent teenager again. I generally just wash my face in the evening with a gentle cleanser (currently using boots ceramide one) and then sometimes I’ll use a serum or moisturiser afterwards, sometimes i don’t bother. I’ve heard retinol might help but then I need to wear proper sunscreen, which makes the problem a million times worse (I’ve tried a ton of different sun creams, still seeking the holy grail).

For makeup I’m currently wearing a Fenty foundation which looks great for the first half hour and then slides off. I’ve tried lots of brands and they’re all the same.

it’s driving me bonkers - anyone got suggestions of skincare and make-up that might help?

Niacinamide made a huge difference to my combination skin. The ordinary do a serum with it in which you can put on under moisturiser.

I was just coming to post Niacinamide.
Do you use a toner?

Oil free moisturiser, used very sparingly.
An oil combatant make up base/pore minimiser.
Oil free foundation/mineral powder foundation for just your forehead.
Those powder blotting sheets for during the day.

Laura Mercier translucent powder keeps the worst off for me

Thanks all, I have some niacinamide on the way. Do you apply twice daily, or just in the morning? Will check out that Laura Mercier powder too.

Dont suppose anyone has a sunscreen recommendation for oily skin? I used to swear by the Biore one but think they’ve changed the formulation, it’s making me very shiny now.

I am super oily and vitamin c serum seems to help - I use melano cc. And biore watery essence spf (not gel)

I used to use Korean SPFs all the time but I don't think these are supposed to be as effective as European ones. Anyway I use La Roche Posay Anthelios fluid which is not greasy. On wet, rainy days or days I'm inside most of the day I wear Beauty of Joeseon Relief sun spf.
To be honest as I have a fringe I don't apply lots of spf on my forehead anyway.

I used to be really oily but I read that using more moisturising creams/oils actually helps and hre worst things you can do for oily skin is to skip or skimp on moisturising.

Since then I've always moisturised with a rich cream and used oils in the evening and that does seem to have worked for me, although it was definitely a case of trusting the process for a few weeks.

Op I also have oily skin and live in QLD aus so very hot and humid. I recommend the Mecca cosmetica to save face spf 50, it's supposed to be used under makeup so isn't shiny or oily and also acts as a primer. Ultra violette lean screen is also great as a mineral option that is mattifying. I really rate Aussie sunscreens, they are the best in the world. As for skincare, get some tretinoin, it actually helps to shrink the oil glands so they produce less sebum, along with collagen production, and improving tone and texture. Niacinamide is also a great shout

I find if I don't put moisturiser on straight after cleansing my skin gets really oily. I use Clinique moisture surge which is a gel and feels very light on my skin. Supergoop mineral matte screen SPF is good under make up or on its own and keeps oil under control.

Niacinamide twice a day helps - the Simple 10% one is great. Primer can make a big difference. The Benefit Porefessional one gets great reviews and I get on well with the Elf liquid Poreless putty. Then try a different base. Erborian BB suits my oily skin well.
