Kérastase recommendations for menopause hair

I am looking for some advice about hair, which since menopause and despite HRT is starting to really deteriorate.

It’s constantly looking dull and flat and I am seeing lots more scalp on my parting. It’s greasy and the roots but dry at the ends

I have really liked Kérastase products in the past, but not sure which ones to try that may help.

does anyone have any recommendations?

Don’t know about kerastase, but I just had hair “Botox”, it’s a bloody game changer!!!!

aura, vegan brand, jams in moisture and nutrients and you have shiny swishy hair for four months!

I was recommended ‘Genesis’ by my hairdresser for menopausal hair and it’s the nicest shampoo and conditioner I’ve ever used. I tend to alternate my shampoos every couple of days , but it does always seem to dry better etc when I’ve used this one. ( And feel nicer)

Also a menopausal age woman I've tried the Discipline one recently. I chose this one because I had a full head of highlights earlier in the year which have been feeling a bit dry and ratty.

It's definitely improved the highlighted bits which feel much softer but I'm not sure it's done much for the top regrowth section which feels a bit lank and could do with more volume. That's maybe not the products fault - more I've got two different things going on with my hair that would suit two different shampoos.

I might try the Genesis one next as I do think they are good products. I probably just need to find the correct type.

Thanks all - that’s helpful. The Genesis serum
gets excellent reviews

I like the Densifique line as it gives me more volume without drying out my hair. Unfortunately, I can't use the Genesis range as there is something in it that irritates my scalp.

The Chronologiste range is also a good all rounder that does a bit of everything, but I find the Nanoworks Gold range from Pureology much better value, though it might be a little too moisturising for you. Both were originally targetted at menopausal/postmeopausal women, but the marketing has changed and they seem almost afraid to admit this now.

@nzeire would you mind being more specific or linking? This sounds amazing, but their website seems to have the normal 'shampoo, conditioner, masque'--nothing that markets itself as 'Hair Botox' or particularly able to solve menopausal hair problems!

When mine is feeling particularly lank and greasy I like to use this with their tea tree conditioner, always soft and swishy afterwards, it's like it strips the grease out.

Another vote for genesis here. I was recommended it when my hair started falling out and after a few washes I noticed very little fall out and it was much healthier. Game changer

marianila.co.uk/collections/all-hair-products

Has sorted my hair, which was somehow greasy at the roots and dry and frizzy at the ends.

Ok, I’m in Nz and the product is aura, it is a hyralonic acid treatment for hair done in salons. Also called hair Botox.

it costs about 300 dollars (120 quid), takes a couple of hours and honestly, I LOVE it. I have never had good hair and now I do! It doesn’t make your hair dead straight and heavy with product feel, like keratin. It’s your hair but a thousand times better

im sure you will find similar in uk, I’m googling now for my daughter who is living there

ill repeat, game changer :)

My hairdresser recommended Kerastase Genesis to me - my hair has thinned and become brittle. Mind you, I'm older than you - 64.

Clicked on that, thanks, but why on earth does it want to know whether I "identify as" non-binary before it will give me any specifics? FFS.

nzeire · 23/09/2024 01:19

Haha! Not sure if it’s that, it’s an in salon treatmebt

yesmen · 23/09/2024 01:52

I use the orange top one for fine hair. I actually have thick hair but that does not weigh it down.

I also wash and dry it at night and put one of those claw things in the parting at the top of my head. Next day I have good bounce (I sound like my mother now!) at the roots.

I also find that lots of good layers on a shortish cut builds volume - when longer it pulls it down more.

checkedcloth · 23/09/2024 05:37

Thanks all. I’ve ordered a starter kit of the Genesis range.
