Good evening! I am not convinced expensive skincare products are miracle workers after reading that a big percentage of the price is due to cost of packaging and marketing. Last year I invested in mid price popular Number 7 Protect and Perfect range Anti wrinkle and saw no difference at all. Mainly use Aldi and Simple these days. Happy to pay more for products that work eg Clinique Lashpower mascara is my favourite mascara of all time. Which moisturiser is your go to? And any recommendations for skin primer and under eye concealer please?

Aveeno Calm and restore Oat gel moisturiser and Night cream
Around £10 each
I'm 59, very sensitive skin

Moo Goo full cream moisturiser mixed with a little facial oil.
It's fabulous stuff and contains no silicones or petro chemicals and it's very, very gentle. It's about £12 a tube and lasts for around 6 months or more.

Dr Sam’s flawless moisturiser intense or flawless moisturiser light, there’s other choices.Only need a tiny amount, doesn’t sit on top of the skin, sinks in, improves the skin barrier.Been using it now for well over a year, it’s really good.Use to use Liz Earl moisturiser, but there’s no comparison to this one.It doesn’t irritate, not expensive, can get on subscription, which is cheaper again.

I tried Johnson pink cream once. It burned and itched. Never again

StEthelburgaRose · 20/09/2024 23:27

Diprobase from the chemist

shellyleppard · 20/09/2024 23:29

I use the vitamin e range from superdrug, usually on offer too.

I don't know any men who use moisturiser @Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain Or none that admit to it anyway.

@Azuresky68 I like the L'Oréal day creams with sunscreen and I use nivea at night. I used to work as a carer and a lot of very elderly women I met swore by it ( and had lovely skin to prove it) I love the smell too as it reminds me of my grandmother who used it.

My late dad swore by Nivea. He was a Displaced Person and - at some point - in one of the hostels he lived in he was advised to use it as aftershave. He'd refer to it as his "make-up". (Dad was a coalminer and didn't give a stuff what anyone thought of his use of moisturiser.) At a pinch, he'd use Astral.

He made it to 86. Had lovely skin.

Big tube of Cerave.
I'm doing a tret prescription with a dermatologist and that's the recommended moisturiser.

henlake7 · 21/09/2024 09:07

For primer and concealer try Primark. Alot of their stuff are dupes of famous brands (the primer is well known as being a perfect knock off and I use it all the time, its great!).

saltysandysea · 21/09/2024 09:12

Nivea is really good. Otherwise Q&A have a whole selection of cheaper face products www.qandaskin.com

My ds uses more skin products than I do and my 80 year old dad has used moisturiser all his life.

I use Cerave PM , it's fantastic stuff.

Manuka dr all the way! I started with the serum and now use the lot. Love the eye cream. Very gentle. I buy from them online, reasonably priced.

UtterlyOtterly · 21/09/2024 09:38

I use E45, bought by the litre. Cheap as chips as my granny would have said. I get lots of positive comments on my skin, it must be doing some good. I don't wear any make up, ever, so my skin is very visible.

bluecomputerscreen · 21/09/2024 09:46

a vitamin c serum (house brands are ok) and a good moisutiser. with spf for daytime.
I like nivea q10 with spf 30 for daytime and weleda skin food at night.

VoteLabour · 21/09/2024 12:16

Holland & Barrett stuff is great. I've had advent calendars from there in the past and most of it is lovely.
Q&A, Faith in Nature, Dr Organics etc.

wintersgold · 21/09/2024 14:27

Elemis moisturiser is very nice and has a pleasant, silky texture. I've seen a visible difference to my skin after switching to it from Aesop.

For the under eye concealer you really can't go better than Chanel Sublimage le correcteur yeux.

Sarah68tinker · 22/09/2024 22:26

Definitely Nivea soft, great for day and night.

Rubyandscarlett · 22/09/2024 22:51

Been using Nivea soft for years - cheap and efffective - the creme in the blue tub is a bit too thick for my face though

UmberMoose · 23/09/2024 14:14

La roche posay is something I like very much. So here goes my routine: Morning:
Using water to wash your face,
Sebamed clear face gel,
la roche posay spf
Evening:
la roche posay moisturizer,
Tretinoin (0.1) from skinorac
Sebamed clear facial gel

Aethelthryth · 23/09/2024 15:00

Nivea in the blue tin as moisturiser. The Ordinary's niacinamide is wonderful for texture/tone/rosacea

forevernumb · 24/09/2024 00:47

I would suggest La Roche Posay from Boots.

blueshoes · 24/09/2024 01:11

Nivea or Astral cream (blue tub) with any form of facial oil. Costs almost nothing.

I even wear it under my day foundation for a 'dewy' look.

La roche posay is best
