I'm sure there was a recent ish thread for those who love flat shoes but cannot find it. Be great to see a selection of flat shoes that are stylish.
I'll start...what do you think of these? I'm thinking they'd do me for autumn/winter nights out with jeans. Are they still in or outdated?

Like these too, but would be chillier than brogues.

Love flats, but not metallics they are a bit "jazzy" for me

Love flats, don't mind metallics but only on ballet pumps or Mary Janes. Don't like brogues unless ankle boots.

mynameiscalypso · 18/09/2024 20:09

I'm not a huge fan of the metallic ones either. I like the second pair you link too but I've just bought a very similar pair in black and I have a habit of buying leopard print shoes and never actually wearing them. Once it gets a bit colder, I will be in boots of various descriptions all the time so I'm not worried about getting cold in the Mary Jane style flats.

Justkoko · 18/09/2024 21:12

I think I was worried about them being a bit too jazzy somehow. Maybe if they were chunkier. It's just having a 'neutral' dressier shoe that isn't heels. And I count gold as sort of a neutral. Don't want to end up feeling a bit matronly either, I'm not tall and svelte.

If you love them and they fill a gap for you, buy them!
I don't like any metallics leather, shoes belts or bags.
But if we all liked the same thing it would be boring
Pavers website has some good shoes ( plenty not my taste) they have good customer service and returns are 45 days

I have some lovely brogueish shoes from flattered

Yeah, something is holding me back or I wouldn't be asking probably. What flat shoes would you say for nights out then? Dressier than boots (I have plenty of chelsea boots) but not pointy flats or slingbacks.
Maybe something along the lines of the leopard shoes?

What kind of thing do you wear on a night out? Dresses/skirts or trousers?

mynameiscalypso · 18/09/2024 21:45

What about these?

I was going to order the silver ones until I remembered I had some silver cowboy boots already (obviously and despite what I said about metallics!)

Justkoko · 18/09/2024 21:55

I think a metallic accessory is a good neutral, either pewter or pale gold for me personally. I'm cool neutral toned I think but for some reason, silver shoes just look terrible against my legs, yet I wear silver jewellery. It's like it brings out any red. Gold actually looks better strangely.
I often just go with jeans for a night out, I'm not a glam up kind of person, if a dress it'd likely be mini ish and with black opaque and I wouldn't wear gold shoes with them.
Would I wear those shoe 100 times? Probably not, since I only go out about 5 times a year these days and I wouldn't wear them for work.
Be interested to know what flat shoes you all like. I like black or oxblood loafers for work as I find them quite neutral.

Brogues went back. Very nice but felt a bit too dandini on me. Maybe the metallic was a bit too much for every day.
Ordered some sort of blush/nude/tan ones in the sale from next, plus some khaki loafers and boston copies for slippers. I feel I need a re-sort of my flat shoes as I tend to live in trainers but don't feel particularly smart in them.
I'm always trying to find my style and I think loafers and chelsea boots is it for autumn.
