Would you put this with a pair of nice cam trousers and some Converse?

this top

See, I know it's nightwear, and I know I'm too porky to wear clothes like that NOW, I would be about a size 14 before I would wear it....

But I think it's cool.

Would you or is it a no no?

I think it's ok. What are cam trousers?

SmugColditz · 20/04/2008 12:11

these sort of things. Sorry, I mean combats.

I'm nearly 28, would it be dressing mutton as lamb?

OP posts:
castille · 20/04/2008 12:12

Er, I wouldn't.

I don't like it much TBH, but even if I did I haven't got the personality to carry off a top like that, maybe you have?

MotherofUBERboys · 20/04/2008 12:19

hmmmm... i too do this dressing at 28 pretty much the way i did at 18... its a funny one isnt it? age appropriate dressing...
im 31 now. i would wear the combats etc, but prob a plain top nowadays.

I'm a combat wearer anyway .... oh maybe not then. I might go and try it on.

OP posts:
MotherofUBERboys · 20/04/2008 12:20

did not do

ProfessorGrammaticus · 20/04/2008 12:21

Oh right! Yes I think it's fine to wear - I wouldn't myself but it's just not my style (not that I'm ever sure what is my style!)

windygalestoday · 20/04/2008 12:23

im 33 (yikes) id wear the top nd the combats but the top would be over a black tee- i think it looks quite funky not for going out tho lol just everyday knocking about with the kids- i was pleased to see you chose an affordable 'normal' shop as well .....

SmugColditz · 20/04/2008 12:24

28's difficult! I feel too old now to wear a lot of the things I used to wear, and frankly I'm pushing it with the skin tone anyway, but I'm too young for Bodenesque type things. I don't know how to shop, what to wear, I'm now two stone lighter than I have been since 20, and I don't want to hide in black this summer!

OP posts:
Flamesparrow · 20/04/2008 12:24

I would.

I'm 27 (and also dressing like I did at 18 most of the time...). I've finally started to feel relaxed and know what my "style" is, and have f*ck all money to buy the clothes I want

MotherofUBERboys · 20/04/2008 12:26

sidetrack: am dissatisfied with my current combats. they are thin, not warm, flimsy. and pale sandy colour. not even flattering. and thinness makes the pocketyness less useful. and they dont stay up well with things in pockets either.

i need new, dark, practical, (and yet massivley flattering of course) combats.

i stole a boyf's army surplus ones once. they were great. im bigger now (not huge, just a 14-ish) would they just look stupid now?

(your opinion as a combat wearer appreciated)

windygalestoday · 20/04/2008 12:27

years ago (well i was 20) i saw a fab pink t shirt that said 'johnsons babe power'in the baby talc writing and i never bought it feeling i was too old for it ......ive regretted it ever since lol

windygalestoday · 20/04/2008 12:28

i have a fab pair of dark black combats slighter thicker ,flattering imo combats from 'new look'-motherofuberboys

SmugColditz · 20/04/2008 12:29

No I don't think they would look stupid, I never think combats are stupid. But I think if they are an ex boyf's, or that sort of style, you need to get some femininity in there with a pastel t shirt or some pretty beads

IM(not very sartorially clever)O

'too young for bodenesque'

know what you mean. make the occasional foray into the world of Grown Up dressing. always end up back in jeans (the flattering-ish comfy practical ones)

Flamesparrow · 20/04/2008 12:30

Not armed with combat knowledge, but with knowledge of your shape... I think the army ones would make you look bigger than you actually are iyswim

WallOfSilence · 20/04/2008 12:31

I like it

I'm 30 & a size 14 & I would wear it.

I also have one of these that I wear with combats so maybe my style isn't one you'd want to be copying

Flamesparrow · 20/04/2008 12:31

wtp?

WallOfSilence · 20/04/2008 12:34

winnie the pooh.

MotherofUBERboys · 20/04/2008 12:34

new look, huh? will scope it out next time im in town. thx. ('next time im in town' agh! i am the person who says 'in town'. interesting.)

will look into the army surplus avenue too. hear what youre saying re fem/masc balance

MotherofUBERboys · 20/04/2008 12:36

oh. you think flame? youre prob right. hmmm.

beaniesteve · 20/04/2008 12:36

28! blimey. I am 38 and wonder what other people would consider appropriate for me! It looks lovely and I like the trousers. Go for it.
