The one about smelling expensive. Since I've hit 30 and had a baby 2 years ago and my body shape has changed, I've lost all sense of style. I'm fed up of looking and feeling awful and just have a go to of leggings and a jumper now which is so boring 😩. I go on Vinted and end up getting overwhelmed. What nice quality brands can I look up? And what items do people recommend if I'm starting a wardrobe from scratch? I really like the idea of having a capsule wardrobe as I'm working towards a more minimalist lifestyle and decluttering.

I'm around a size 12/14, curvy and 5'10. I love bold colours and geometric prints but not sure if they fit into the mould of quiet luxury. Toying with the idea of doing the John Lewis personal shopper but I'm worried I will hate all their suggestions and feel pressured into buying clothes I don't like. Thank you s&b queens 🙏🏼

I'm in pretty much the same situation, although I haven't had a baby but I am out of shape, and I'm hoping to do the same thing. Looking forward to seeing some suggestion!

I should have added - as a starter, think about what you feel comfortable in/enjoy wearing and come up with a template "uniform". For me this is; midi dresses (for work and dinners out), jeans and quality coloured tshirts (for chill weekends), jeans and jumpers (both nice and comfy), and jeans and blouses (for work or dinners out). This makes it so much easier to shop as I'm only looking for a few categories of items and have a much smaller wardrobe, I never wore trousers or skirts so there's no point buying them!

It's also worth trying to work out what colour season you are or suits you as this also makes it much easier to shop as you can narrow down colour choices.

Can you link to original quiet luxury thread, not sure I found the right one. Thanks

I think Vinted is the worst place for people to go who have lost their way. It's bad enough when you know !

I'm 5'10'' too OP and work in beauty and fashion.
I'd start with a quality pair of trousers. I wear the autograph silk and wool black and navy. They say dry clean, I wash mine with woolite on the gentlest setting on my washing machine. I've had one pair for eight years.
I have t-shirts from next/ seasalt and white stuff. Silk shirts from Lily silk. I buy max mara jackets off ebay. Ditto the coats. Last season BNWT. About a quarter of the original price.
The trousers don't fit me but everything else does. No need to lengthen anything.
My jeans are denim and co off OVC. They are very lightweight which I like. They keep their colour.
I've just bought a beautiful silk and wool scarf today from the dogs trust. £5, new.
My bags are Mulberry and I have a Radley across body and a few Aspinal.
I am quite a formal dresser but I like seasalt for casual as they do longer length.
Stick to a few favourite basic colours and good quality natural fabrics.
Silver, white, black navy if you are cool toned. Chocolate, camel, copper, cream if you are warm skin/ eyes.
Add brights. I hope it helps.

@roamingcat thank you, that makes a lot of sense! Will have a think what I like and suit. How do you work out what colour season you are? I've seen some videos about that on TikTok but not sure how to go about finding out what I am.

I’ve had a styling appointment with John Lewis and there was no pressure to buy at all. I would suggest looking for Farm Rio https://www.anthropologie.com/en-gb/brands/farm-rio

Fab thank you! Will save up some money and think about treating myself after Christmas. Also trying to lose a bit of weight so think I'd feel quite awkward going now as I'm v low on confidence. Will check that make out, thanks

Definitely, I find it really good for kids clothes as I know what brands I like so can put them in and select size and it's all there. But when I don't know any good, quality brands or what I like/ suit I really struggle!

Ahh @Mrsredlipstick thank you so much 🙏🏼 I actually get 20% off M&S clothes so will have a look at Autograph. This is really helpful! I've got a classic Mulberry Bayswater that I got for my 21st but tbh it just lives in its dustbag now because I carry round a bloody tractor themed rucksack for my toddler 🥲 but it's maybe time to reinstate the nice bag. Thanks again for the ideas!
