Finding something to pull existing shoes and jacket together

Going to what will likely be a stylish registry office wedding in a month and am desperate to give my two new purchases a day out. One is a Peter James fitted tweed jacket (similar to picture but looks a lot less baggy/more tailored) and these ridiculous shiny pink Oliver Bonas Mary jane shoes. The jacket is grey toned if that helps. I was thinking a long ankle length black dress might do it but not sure black for a wedding is a good idea. Or maybe I have to accept that they're just too different to work together?

I'm not sure, but who's your style icon? I can't quite picture them together and what would bridge the gap, but can you imagine someone who's style you really admire wearing them together, and what with?

No, they’ll look fabulous together!

What you want - or at least, what I’d look for - is a wonderfully voluminous A line skirt in either a glossy fabric like damask, or velvet. The play of fabrics against each other would be really striking and elegant.

(Very sorry but I think a long black dress would be completely wrong and quite depressing!)

Do you have a budget, @WeddingShmedding?

Thanks I'd say I'd like to chanel Nigella Lawson a bit 🤣 I think a maxi dress might be the solution and I like the idea of green with perhaps an accent of pink... Budget probably up to or around 100 quid.

tweed is fabulous with velvet, damask and other weighty fabrics but not combined with these shoes.

to work with the shoes you need to combine the jacket and shoes with a lightweight fabric: gauzy chiffon, tulle or silks - they all look equally great with tweed and the contrast works well particularly well for an evening look.

I’d look for a silk slip dress or tulle skirt, so the vibe ends up being light weight feminine dress/shoes contrasted with more masculine heavyweight jacket.

if both the dress and jacket are heavy weight fabrics the shoes will totally unbalance the outfit.

Thanks... I've got some good quality brown leather knee boots which might go with a heavier fabric... I love the idea of velvet. Having a look at sheer things too. Those shoes really are a bit of a pain to complement but I was like a magpie in the shop and had to get them!

Wondering if a navy blue might work better than green as the tweed is a cooler tone...

Looked for a skirt for you @WeddingShmedding , I had the kind of thing in mind and this isn't it, but - the jacket, a plain cream shirt, this skirt, and the shoes - what do you think? Or there's even a matching top for this skirt?
