Postpartum style help on a budget. Feeling a bit desperate actually!

Hello,

I gave birth to a lovely baby girl two weeks ago. Unlike with my son, I've put on weight with this pregnancy and it'll be a little while until I can fit into my usual clothes.

I'm feeling rough, with a wobbly tummy. I'm probably a size 12, but used to being size 8/10. I'm 5'4, usually a pear shape.

My wardrobe is v minimal anyway because I'm crap at buying clothes. Basically, nothing really fits me, I'm having to wear maternity trousers, tops look awful because of my stomach. I need everything except for underwear... We've just bought a house and money is tight. Basically I need a postpartum capsule wardrobe on a budget, with a few outfits I can mix and match. I don't really know where to start?

Please help!

I need shoes too... I've just been wearing sandals while pregnant.

Outfits can be casual as I'm on maternity leave. Breastfeeding friendly suggestions get bonus points! I tend to wear plain colours, jumpers, wide leg trousers, not a fan of tight clothing. Especially not with a wobbly tummy!

Happy to buy from vinted too 🙂

Thank you!

We are removing this while we do some checks behind the scenes.

Congratulations on your new arrival!
As we are coming into autumn / winter you’ll probably be best in oversized jumpers and thick leggings maybe? This can then work with trainers or boots as it gets colder.
You can always get oversized jumpers on Asos or New Look, there’s usually some in the sale or on offer. I found oversized jumpers handy for breastfeeding as you can keep yourself kind of covered as well.
Then you can wear vests underneath that you can pull down so you don’t have to expose your stomach in the cold weather!

Thanks @Row23 I've never actually worn leggings but maybe it's a good idea with the jumpers for this in-between phase rather than buying trousers which won't fit when I've lost the baby weight?

@TiredBoredGay I prefer trousers. I have been known to wear dresses in summer, but I don't like wearing tights.

God really nothing from my existing clothes will fit because I have very few - think 3 pairs of cords, 2 sweaters, some t-shirts. It's ridiculous in itself! I have 1 pair of black biker style boots, and some sandals. I had a pair of trainers that got holes so I chucked them away at the start of the summer. I also have a newish denim jacket from fat face. I'm living in maternity trousers, some maternity t-shirts and a zip hoodie.

Is £250 unrealistic?

Thanks @TiredBoredGay I'm doing a next order for DS and DD so might add a couple of bits for myself. Leggings and a jumper would be a good start I think.

I don't actually live that near any clothes shops which doesn't help! Think a city suburb with a B&M etc but a half hour trip to the city centre.

I think the leggings and oversized jumper idea is a great one - very easy to wear

Would consider avoiding cheap leggings and finding a quality pair with a wide waistband and thick material, this will make you feel supported on the stomach area and help you feel good! But then save on jumpers, you’ll find loads of oversized ones on vinted, and because they’re oversized you don’t have to worry about whether they’re the perfect fit
